The Seine is a great river. And a walk or a cruise along its banks will reveal many of its beauties. There are many sights to be enjoyed and you will be thrilled no matter how many times you visit.

This area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, runs from Pont de Sully to just past the Eiffel Tour along both sides of the Seine. It consists of an upper and lower walkway, the upper can be considered the sidewalk, and the lower is at river level. Located along this promenade are some of the most recognizable sites in the world: Eiffel tower, Notre Dame and the Louvre. The lower allows you to walk along the river with a lot less crowds.

We picked this only as a better than average route to our destination. It was a warm Sunday and a lot of people were moving around. The place itself did not get overly crowded but the restaurant capacity was not sufficient at lunch time. May be a good idea to bring your own food and have a picnic. Boats available for rent. Metro stations exist on both ends, no need to walk both directions.

What better way to spend time in Paris than walking along the banks ( Quais) of the Seine. There is so much to see including the unusual houseboats on the river, the many bridges , the bouquanists and the modern sculptures at Quai Saint-Bernard.and the Berges de Seine at Quai d'Orsay.
Each "quai" has a different name.

When visiting Paris, walking on the "quais" along the river Seine is a must! You can start near Pont d'Austerlitz enjoy watching Tango dancers practicing in dedicated places when the weather is clear and not cold (Spring and Summer time) (left bank), then continue to walk until Notre Dame, have a drink on a boat anchored on the peer.
For a nice view over the bridges, walk on the right bank between Pont neuf and Pont du Carrousel. You will see some three, four bridges within one frame shot (best time for photographers 8-9:00 pm summer time).
Another must: enjoy a pique-nique with a nie bottle of wine sitting on the peer!

The River Seine is one of the great river's of Europe and befitting such a majestic river are the quai's dotted throughout the path of the river through the city , these offer great views of the city's amazing architecture ,walking along the likes of Quai De Montebello in the Île De La Cité complex is superb ,you can get very close to the river itself ,some of the quai's are really historic ,beautiful pieces of architecture in their own right ,it's wonderful walking around the quai's of the city and well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Paris.

Everyone must stroll along the Seine on one's visit to Paris. You will be in the middle of everything and see manyof the famous monuments from the river perspective with open views and good sight lines. Lots of parks along the way, food and drink.

I never get tired of walking along the river as the vistas and activities change along the way. Many of Paris' most important buildings are here, lots of places to eat and drink, lots of public parks. Open vistas.
