We originally were drawn to the description of a bike tour with a market visit and picnic at the canal but ended up doing a private walking tour as a trike wasn’t available for my son who has (hopefully) a temporary balance issue from concussion/COVID. The experience was wonderful even as a walking tour.
It was a clever/quick way to reduce cost for us by having us meet our guide near the Javel train station (bakery to grab a quick breakfast a few stores down from the brasserie meeting point) to take a train to Versailles as part of the tour price. We enjoyed the walk through the Versailles farmer’s market (make sure you come on a day it’s open). They took us to an award winning produce stand. The price was a bit high but the lychees (small seeds), cherries (huge), and strawberries were very very sweet. I’ve never had such shiny/polished, cleaned, unbruised strawberries before….almost unreal or like prepped for a cooking show. We stopped for some coffee and bought some beautiful tea thermos at a nearby tea shop. Lola was the best guide of the 6 guides we had during our 1 week vacation in France. Her UC education (4 yrs in the US basically besides her international schooling in France where she grew up and her Californian father) made her sound just like an American (lingo and all) which made communication very easy/understandable and relatable as we are Americans ourselves. She was extremely knowledgeable of the history (art history minor) and presented the information in an easy to digest and interesting manner. Her sweet, friendly, and down to earth personality made interactions a joy.
Versailles was a good experience for us with the changes in exploration indoor and outdoors. My French raised friend hadn’t recommended us to come here as she visited during the summer and it was too crowded/claustrophobic for her. I think our December visit made it enjoyable as it wasn’t unbearable inside (not hot as it would be during summer without AC in the chateau) even though the outdoor plants were in hybernation and probably not as beautiful as it would be during the summer. The weather was nice and cool. We were lucky to not have rain during our walk. We ate at a crepe place (her 2nd choice as the first was full). The savory choices weren’t as good as the ones we had in Paris during our Retro side car tour, but you can’t go wrong with dessert.
We took the tram (“Petit train”) to Marie Antoinette’s cottage which was a cute place to visit. The history of King Louis XIV, XV, and XVI was interesting but hard to keep straight at first. We watched Jeanne Du Barry the movie on the flight home to US which tied in the trip a bit.

We did the Paris overview bike tour with Lola. It was great fun and Lola was a great guide. We met near a cafe in the 7th and were taken to a parking garage to get our bikes. We were given a few minutes to ride around and get comfortable and make sure our seats were at the right height etc and then we were off. Paris has done an incredible job of turning some traffic lanes into protected bike lanes. We were doing this on a day with less car traffic but I felt safe the entire time and Lola did a great job of making sure we were all accounted for. We were able to cover a great deal of territory on the bikes and her explanations at the various stops were very interesting. We got lucky and had only a very small group on our tour but I thought it was fantastic and would highly recommend this company.

We would highly recommend this as a great adventure to visit Versailles. Our tour guide Noema was great and we enjoyed every aspect of our tour. The bikes they provided were in great shape and customized for each rider. We toured the town of Versailles, visited the local markets, toured Marie Antoinette’s estate, had a picnic lunch in the garden, and had a escorted tour of the palace. This is a great way to see the palace and so much more when visiting Versailles. Don’t miss it!

Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable! She is highly educated in French history and has a great deal of experience as a guide.

The tour company made sure that the bikes were an appropriate height for safety purposes and explained the gears, brakes, etc. for novices. As well, the process of riding through the streets and gardens were well explained regarding safety and route. The bikes were comfy and came with panniers that held blankets and rain ponchos. Those pochos came in handy throughout the day.

We visited the palace, saw the exterior of the Grand and Petite Trianon, saw some of the gardens (although it was winter it was still pretty), the hamleau of Marie Antoinette, the grand canal and the Temple of Love. Mid Day, we stopped at a local market to pick up items for a picnic. Our guide, Noema, had all of the cutlery, serviettes, wine openers etc. We were able to enjoy lunch on the banks of the grand canal with in view of the Château.

Noema was so knowledgeable about the royal family and the history of the time that we had a highly educational experience as well as a feast for the eyes. This was an excellent choice of tour as we saw some of the town of Versailles and as a group were able to enter without waiting in the long lines.

Outstanding experience with Boutique bikes and Fiona. Boutique has a smaller group (8-9) people with the addition of biking to the Versailles market and cheese tasting. ( not just solely staying on the estate of verseilles). Fiona was one of the best tour guides we have had in decades of traveling! Perfect English, enthusiastic, funny, and extremely knowledgeable about history and Versailles. Would highly recommend and Try to get in Fiona’s group 😉

Spent a wonderful day in and around Versailles with Noëma and 8 other travelers. The beauty of every place we visited was enhanced by Noëma's rich knowledge of the history and fun backstories! Biking allowed us all to see so much more than the palace and gardens. Don't miss this

We had a fabulous all-day private bike tour around Paris. Three couples and Dina our incredible guide - enthusiastic and knowledgeable (degree in French history). Bikes and helmets were in great condition and the tour was tailored to our interests. Total time was 6-1/2 hours including stops for lunch and coffee. I would highly recommend Dina and Boutique Bike Tours.

I would recommend this company to anyone. We went to Giverny to see Monet’s Garden. The bike ride was beautiful and Nicola was the best guide. We weren’t the easiest group due to some mobility issues but he was so accommodating and helpful. And when we saw the lineup to get into Monet’s house we were so happy that we had skip the line tickets! Very memorable experience.

Wow! An unforgettable experience. Must do this tour if you have a day to spend in Versailles. Versailles palace and the Trianon and gardens are stunningly beautiful. Agathe was an excellent guide… knowledgeable and fun. We were never bored. Great mix throughout the day of biking walking independent time and guided touring. Was fun to stop in the market and choose our picnic lunch, and picnicking along the water viewing Versailles was amazing! This is listed as an intermediate level bike tour which is accurate. An average person can do this easily, slightly challenging if you are 50 and up and out of shape like me or have any limiting health issues. In that case would highly recc e-bike option which I was wishing I did towards the latter half of the day. This was our best tour amongst many throughout London and Paris this fall.
