We like Batignolles as it is less touristy and hotels are a little cheaper. We like to walk and find we can walk most places of interest like Montmartre and if we can't walk then it is easy to get about by Metro.
Off the usual tourist path.

I would rent an apartment in this area, except for the fact that the one Metro line through this area is way too crowded all of the time. Otherwise, it's a charming, real neighborhood, a place where people live and shop. Good markets here. Interesting restaurants are invading.

Located just off the Place De Clichy is the wonderful Quartier Des Batignolles, an area of the city I always drop into on any holiday I take to this vibrant city.
This neighbourhood has a village like vibe to it ,it's got a locals feel to it ,nice little shops ,interesting architecture ,cool parks and what I love here are the great cafés ,pubs, bars and restaurants ,it's got a great Bohemian vibe to it ,it vibrant especially at night ,if you enjoy museums there's the Musee National Jean Jacques Henner , a must go museum with a fine collection of 19th century portraits ,all in all a great district of Paris to check out if you're planning a holiday to this magical city.

You have to journey off the tourist path to find this area that was formerly working class and now has been gentrified like every where else. There is a lovely park along the train tracks. Lots of good cafes and restaurants around. The real city is here, no tourists.

Take a Metro ride away from the central tourist-filled neighborhoods and sites to an old Parisian neighborhood that hasn't changed much in decades and decades. Cafes restaurants, shops, and a big park. This is where the workers have always lived. Wander around.
