At port office did not serve us because we did not speak French. We went 18 Aug. afternoon and 19 Aug. morning. We had to return to hotel and reception people to call them and book our tour. We missed the good tour and we had to take the afternoon short trip to the light houses. Young people at the boat were friendly and could speak English. The problem is with the reservation people.

I took the boat trip to Scandola, Girolata, and Piana. Be advised however that all communication and narration of what you will see is in French. Of course this is understandable as Corsica is a French-speaking country and as a tourist my French should be better. I am not saying that I expected there to be a spoken English translation. What I had hoped for was something written in English in a booklet. I'm sure the German and Spanish speakers on the boat would have appreciated a written German and Spanish written narration to follow along with the stops the boat made to help make sense of what we were seeing. I asked a boat representative on board (in my broken French) if there was anything written in English (even emergency instructions) and was told curtly "no." I spoke with the representative at the dock and was told that this is something that is being worked on. Also be advised that the boat stops first at the port opposite Ajaccio (near the Ajaccio airport) and picks up a bunch of people there. By the time it gets to the port in Ajaccio all seats on the top of the boat and many of the one at the bottom outside are already taken. If you want an upstairs seat, make sure that you are first in line when the boat boards again after the stop in Girolata. That way you can be on top for the Piana. All this said, the trip does go to many beautiful places that you can only see by boat. The boat trip to Bonifacio is probably less crowded. I think this is a good company but they need to think about their growing English-speaking clientele and provide at least emergency instructions recorded in English & other languages. Written descriptions of sights seen would also be incredibly appreciated. They do provide cookies free of charge on board. After a while however the bathrooms begin to smell like vomit as more and more passengers become sea sick. The staff does its best to clean the bathrooms and use spray to mask the smell. Also be advised that trips can be cancelled because of what the company may determine are "rough seas." My boat trip to Bonifacio was cancelled for this reason and I received a prompt refund.

Simply amazing, the landscape is just breathtakingly beautiful. The cruise had explanations just in french so if you don't know any it might be a bit of a set-back but there are leaflets. The staff was great and they love to tell you about the natural reservation, wildlife and geological formations. Good manoeuvring by the captain got us into some really nice caves around the reserve. Highly recommend this cruise. Clean boat, not too noisy, and a wonderful experience to have. Get your camera ready!

When we first entered the boat, the smell was terrible! We could smell vomit everywhere. So, if you are planning to do this trip, please go to the upper deck, where you can get some air. We have visited Scandola and Girolata. We have spent the whole freeking day on a boat (8:30-18:30) with a 1:30/2h stop in Girolata. The price was 58€/person. In my opinion this is too expensive for what it is. The view is beautiful but still... The tourist guide didn’t even speak English. So, if you don’t speak a word of French, it will be hard to understand the explanations. However, the explanations were very good (the only good thing). Prepare yourself for this trip (in terms of nausea) cause people will start throwing up next to you.

We (8 pax) took an deliberate decision to book with Nave Va Promenades with the comfortable facilities available. The boat is big, 2 deck and modern (using Hybrid power). They serve coffee and there is toilet onboard for our long excursions. We took an afternoon to have all the sight departing from the Golfe de Porto. Firstly to Les Calanques de Piana skirting around those outcrops in the sea. The captain is expert in navigating these waters both forward and in reverse. His candid lively commentary in French is able to synchronise with his sailing to the different sights, especially while he’s pointing out to us wild rare sea birds. After a short stop back at Porto harbour, we set off northerlies this time towards Réserves Naturelle de Scandola. This is an UNESCO marine park with amazing landscapes, flora and fauna. We also had a 40mins legs stretch on the encave Girolata that’s only accessible by boat. Definitely a well spent afternoon in the sun, breeze on the face, and cruising on the wide open sea.
