We didn't visit the Sanguinary Islands but watched a sunset from the Parata peninsula... It's truly magical, something to do! Paid parking at the bottom of the Parata tower, then about a 10-minute walk (be careful, it climbs). We admired the sunset with a little picnic, it was magnificent. Remember to take a little wool because it is cool in the evening.

The place is magical, access is well organized.
the large car park is only occupied by around ten vehicles but parking is paid and expensive!
1.50 euros for 30 minutes!
We would have happily had lunch at the restaurant and paid for the orezza, the pietra and the lonzo but certainly not for an unjustified parking toll in mid-October!

Go to the end of the D111 road. You will arrive at a large paid parking lot. Not very expensive, we paid €3 for 2h30, so reasonable. Walk to the bottom of the tower and you will see the different islands. We went around the peninsula, a small path, sometimes limited, especially for young children, but the landscapes are magnificent. Also go up the small hill, you will have a bird's eye view of the islands, it's great.

Unfortunately many attractions on Corsica are closed during the winter months. Îles Saguinaires was one of them. There were no boat tours available to take you to the islands. We walked as far as we could, to the first island, but couldn’t go further. Luckily we were staying close by so could enjoy the view and the nightly sunsets.

What a beautiful site! Worth visiting even if it is not sunset :) We spend more than an hour and took the time to walk around the site. There is car park, not too expensive but not free. There are toilets near the car park. Not many food options on site. Worth stopping by!

We drove to the point, with lots of parking available (if all full, it probably would have been way too busy!)
Then walk around the point on natural paths (nothing too exiting) and have beautiful views of Corsican coast. As it was quite windy (although sunny), there were amazing waves crashing into the coast.
View of the Îles was nice (and reachable by easier path), climb to the base of the tower steps, with further tremendous views.

There are parking lots at the entrance to the site. It can be accessed by slightly steep paths or by a road. At the tower 3 routes are offered, we did all 3 to go around, go up to the tower and go down on the other side. The place is sublime with the color of the clear blue water.

There are other more worthwhile boat tours leaving from Ajaccio. There is almost nothing to see except an old watch tower which are throughout the island and a lighthouse. It is a lengthy walk to see these and they barely give you enough time to get there before you have to run back to the boat. Further, there are no bathroom facilities or anywhere you can buy a snack or a drink on the island.

We arrived on a cruise ship for the day. Most ports had tons of cab drivers begging us to take them. This town was not like that. Mainly French spoken. We went into town and found that the local bus #5 cost 1 euro each to take us to the lookout point and 1 euro to return a couple hours later. Very easy walk up the hill and to the tower. Great photos from this view. See attached. One souvenir shop on the road.

The No 5 bus (Navette des Plages) goes out to La Parata, and from there you can walk up to the tower or even just to a good viewpoint of Les Isles Sanguinaires. There are other walks around, too, and a very good interpretation centre. Note that the bus fare is €3, not €1 as one reviewer said (that is the fare for other buses). The departure point is a little tricky to find - it is on the other side of the large building in La Place de Gaulle. It’s quite nice to walk along the waterfront anyway & there are plenty of stops. The bus goes approx once an hour. You can also go out on Le Petit Train ( which probably makes this quite good value at €11 ?) but as others have pointed out, you don’t have much time out there if you take this option). The walk to the viewpoint is wide, flat, and smooth. About 100 steps up the tower. Other walks around are on narrower, more natural paths.

Merci d'avance
Written May 17, 2018
Bonjour,

Bonne visite!
