So many of the exterior sculptures were destroyed during the Revolution, but the interior is impressive, with magnificent stained glass excelled only by Chartres. The history that took place here is also impressive, and of course you will see the "Joan of Arc was here" plaque on the exterior. Quite moving.

Given that we had always hurtled past Troyes on the autoroute, dismissing it as a destination on the grounds that it appeared to be surrounded by modern grain silos, this gem of gothic architecture and the town itself were a delightful surprise.

Superlatives seem never to be able to describe this lovely spacious cathedral. One enjoyment for us was the absence of the milling tourists which seem to "plague" the better known cathedrals in France. Well worth the visit for some quiet contemplation in a beautiful backdrop.

The cathedral of Troyes is, of course, Gothic and, unlike many such cathedrals, is in excellent condition. It is set off by having large open spaces around it but is still within easy walking distance of the Old Town, on whose edge it sits. On the walk to and from, taking slightly different paths, you will find numerous good but... More

This is a huge and beautiful church, so glad we went back to see it in the morning. The pillars which support the towers are absolutely colossal - about 15' across. Beautiful stained glass and a lovely tranquil atmosphere. Well worth a visit, especially if you like architecture!

One of the greatest cathedrals in Europe, a special place to enjoy both the architecture, space and quiet.

Please do stop in Troyes only for an hour and do not miss this gothic masterpiece. It stands as a monument to medieval ingenuity and architecture and stands out among the beautiful cathedrals of France. The windows are a jewel but the whole design just leaves you speechless.

Lovely stained glass and beautiful stone facade. The cathedral is currently housing an interesting exhibition. The chapel if the sacrament is lovely.

A beautiful cathedral that is open late. At entrance I was greeted with a smile. You have to see and to feel silence and calm.
