For all the people that complained, for 3 euros you can expect not to get anything fancy. There are lots of religious statues/sculptures. At the time I went, there were some explanatory text on the history and expansion (not to mention popularity) of hosiery in history. In the other section, there were large machines which were used later on to... More

It was like two museums in one. Starting on the 2nd floor, there are the statues followed by old paintings, mostly religious subjects and some stained glass. A 20 minute film in French provided a history of stocking and other factories. Pictures were interesting. Then the first floor and main floor were related to The variety and ability to get... More

We enjoyed this tremendously - finding about the sculptures & stained glass of the 1500's and the history of the machines to make fabrics, clothing etc. The 'guard' was also a super guide, helping to identify the oldest parts. Very beautiful rooms.

The museum is in two parts. The textile museum focuses on the local machine knitting industry, with a lot of machinery, but a limited selection of textile products. Extensive interpretation in French and English. The local museum has some fine art, and an excellent and informative display of stained glass, for which Troyes is notable. A good place to start... It's nice to see the history of the town when it comes to the textile industry. There are nice pieces of machinery. However, you can tell that this museum doesn't have a lot of money. All the signs look old, there is dust everywhere... It needs to be freshened up a bit to make it look more modern.

A lovely old building although in need of some attention outside. There are two museums in one - the art museum is small but good, with some nice statuary and stained glass. The hosiery museum was rather disappointing - a lot of knitting machines, very little explication, came away very little the wiser as to how it all worked. Not... More
