There are wonderful churches, museums, shops, restaurants, bars - and just about the most perfectly restored and preserved mediaeval town centre imaginable.

I didn't think much of Trois until I learned that it is both medieval and renaissance. You can easily miss this as they are on two different sides of town. The cathedral is gorgeous and not to be missed. The half timbered homes are interesting,...More

Old german style buildings leaning into each other, cobbled streets, bars and restaurants and lots of moving water make for a very pleasant afternoon stroll.

Agree entirely with the comments of the last reviewer. Troyes is a rather large town but everything mentioned is in a rather tight area with the Cathedral being at the southern extreme. Note that most if not all of the Churches and the Cathedral close...More

Troyes (I now know it's pronounced "twah" in that particular French way) is a delight - the knobbly streets, the wedding cake cathedral and churches, the half-timbered houses with their overhanging jetties, the oversize street topiary, the slate and shingle roofs, the river, the fountains,...More

... it is nice during the day but the illumination gives the wow-effect after sunset. See the pictures ... or go there and judge yourself.
