There is no way you could skip this street while in Reims. It is very nice for an evening walk and you can sit in one of the nice, cozy bars and restaurants.

We sat in a cafe on this square and enjoyed our lunch at a very nice typical spot. Lots of people around and all of the splendid classic buildings.

The Place Drouet d'Erlon is right in the middle or the Cathedral-city of Reims, known also as Champagne's home. Although bisected by a busy street, it is essentially a wide pedestrian zone (some delivery vans and bicycles allowed) flanked by French & foreign cuisine cafes and restaurants. The "Espace Drouet d'Erlon" is a city shopping mall, featuring a FNAC (electronics & books) store, fashion boutiques and a Monoprix supermarket downstairs. The Monoprix will deliver to the inner city of Reims for a purchase of 50 Euros, very handy if you stay in a rental apartment or apart-hotel & want groceries for several meals. There is also a Post Office on one side plus access to several 2 & 3 star hotels. The historic Gothic church: Eglise St. Jacques, adjoins the Place with an old-fashioned Carousel that still runs, next door. One end of the Place extends towards the Reims Central Train Station while the other end becomes 2 streets to the city's premier shopping avenue: rue de Vesle, along which runs the Reims Tram. The Place is illuminated at night and especially lovely in warm summer months.…
