The House of Ruinart is unlike any other. It was the first established House of Champagne in 1729 and inspired by the intuition of a monk well ahead of his time…

- gamayrougeSanta Rosa, California99 contributionsHappy we took the tourThe tour was very interesting. Seeing multiple champagne houses you start to think you could do the tour. But everyone said don’t miss Ruinart. I have a feeling they like to keep it a surprise but when you are down in the crayeres they have a special art instillation with lights and movement. But, yes, the caves are all pretty similar.😄🤷🏼♀️ They have some beautiful art as well.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 12, 2023
- Kris VSydney, Australia16 contributionsBest champagne house in Reims. From the moment we walked through the gates, it had a totally different and classic feel about what we were about to experience. We were ushered to a waiting room where we met our group, and also our guide , who's name has escaped me. He was a Mexican gentleman living in France, who delivered a touching and loving introduction to the Ruinart brand, He was interested in everyone's individual stories and didn't try and overwhelm you with needless or complex details. He just delivered it in a way that even a novice felt like he was welcome . The wine cellar tour was booked for 1.5 hours, but by the time we finished it was more like 2.25 hours. Verve felt like you were on a production line and went to the minute, Ruinart felt like you were a family member returning there, and the champagne in my opinion was far superior.Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 15, 2023
- Kelli | Whiskied WanderlustChicago, Illinois634 contributionsInteresting and Delicious! We did the Singular Blanc tour, which started with a fascinating tour of the caves. The art installation down there was a little much (mostly because I didn’t like being in complete darkness so far underground) but it only lasted a few minutes. The singular blanc tasting was fun and informative — as we tasted each wine we had to figure out which tray of smells/tastes it matched. Great guide, great tour. Can’t wait to return to see the gardens once construction is done!Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 21, 2024
- john_tillettAdelaide, Australia231 contributionsLunch at the MaisonWe had booked the weekend lunch at Maison Ruinart expecting it to be a major highlight of our trip. It comes with major luxury credentials; the oldest house in champagne. It also isn’t cheap. The product is lovely, but not exciting. It isn’t the sum of its very well done parts. The service staff are charming. Most of the food is amazing- in fact, really quite flawless. There is a sense of occasion when the chef and maître'd serve the mains on a trolley. For us it somehow didn’t feel special. The champagne pours were miserly (my first was genuinely a thimble, and took far too long to come), the Maison is currently a building site, and the dining room feels a tad makeshift- almost like a cafeteria or refectory. We didn’t end up visiting the cellars at Ruinart, and I suspect their visits are polished and very well done based on the standard of service staff. I don’t want to take away from excitement, but I would be careful booking this with the expectation of an exceptional experience to mark your visit to champagne. It is a lovely, expensive lunch. We much preferred the overall experience at Le Parc (the lunch set menu is basically the same price as Ruinart) even though the food at Ruinart was perhaps more to our palate.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 24, 2024
- John W23 contributionsBest Champagne House tourAlthough there is still lots of building work going on around the Maison, due to finish October 2024, which doesn't make for great viewing nor hearing, it didn't spoil our tour. Thanks to Morgan for showing us around. The cellars truly are worth visiting and I loved the collaboration with the artists especially the light shows down in the cellars themselves. The champagne tasting was of course great but wished we were able to taste some of the Vintage to see whether it is really worth spending extra on.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 31, 2024
- MagbagNice, France27 contributionsBest champagne house visit in ReimsBy far the best champagne house visit in Reims (and we’ve been to many)! We were lucky enough to get a private visit with our guide Cara, who was very knowledgeable about the wines and most of all the oldest champagne house! She made the visit so special with her warm welcoming nature and kept my husband and myself enthralled by her passion for the champagne, the most beautiful caves and her fascinating recount of the creation of champagne and Maison Ruinart! Plus we had a choice of vintage and more recent tastings of the wonderful Ruinart champagne, perfect! I’ve never known 2 hours pass so quickly. A must if visiting Reims!Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 26, 2024

Very disappointing visit to Ruinart.
After being welcomed in a nice room, we went on with the visit.
This started with a display of questionnable pieces of art.
We then went down endless flights of stairs to the caves.
We had a quick glimpse of the unimpressive bottling room.
The cellars are huge and well kept.
Unfortunately, no question related to Ruinart could be answered.
How many bottles do you produce ? “ I dont know” was the answer.
Any precise question was answered similarly.
A meaningless sound and light show inside the cave is filling the time.
After roaming through the galleries we had to climb back the endless high steps. You need to be very fit and below 40 years old for this kind of intensive exercise. Sad no elevator was available to ferry the visitors (unlike Taittinger had provided us the day before).
We went back to the room for tasting 2 different wines.
Since no bottles were displayed, we had no idea what was available.
I asked for a catalog of their production, and was shown a QR code. Since I had no free roaming on my phone I was not able to see anything.
Sad there were no bottle displayed, so we had no idea what was available.
The 2 glasses we were served were below par.
Frankly, paying 70€ for this dull visit is a shame.

Ruinart’s champagne tour is definitely worthwhile! Please reserve in advance as it is a small group tour unlike the Others.
We were very impressed with Ruinart in terms of welcoming staff, tour guide with in-depth knowledge of the brand & champagne, building, art display & the Les Crayeres! We have been to 3 big cellars in Reims & Epernay, and Ruinart is the best!
We had a lot of time to interact with the guide & enjoying the art, caught a glimpse of the bottling process! Even we already went to a few cellars before Ruinart, we were still blown away by the Les Crayeres. It is totally different from other normal cellars! And they even put on a light show.
For the tasting, we got to taste a Vintage & non-vintage version for comparison. And the guide was actually guiding us to taste the champagne. We did enjoy a lot in the Ruinart tour.
And Throughout the process, it was no rush at all. We can take our time & enjoy the tour! It is a must do in Reims!!

These caves are the most beautiful of the five champagne houses we visited! One was set up for a wedding reception with sparkling glasses and flowers in the depths of the crayers. In another is a modern sculpture that to me evoked the rise of the champagne bubbles. Of course, my favorite was the most expensive of the delicious pours Amendine, our tour-guide gave us.

My wife and I visited Ruinart last Saturday and were certainly not disappointed. The grounds, facility, and impressive crayeres are stunning. The juice precedes itself but our tour guide Morgan was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, professional, funny, and able to relate to less experienced wine drinkers. This is not easy to do having worked at a winery in Oregon. If you are in Champagne and looking for a 1st class tour please book a stop at Ruinart.

We recently had the pleasure of going on a small group tour at Champagne Ruinart and I am so glad we did. Our tour guide, Morgan, was incredible! He was extremely knowledgeable, articulate and enthusiastic about sharing his wealth of knowledge on the history and art of champagne-making with us. The tour included a visit to the crayeres where we were treated to a stunning 5-minute light show with accompanying music that delighted all the senses. It was an enjoyable, classy, educational, and memorable experience. I have grown an even greater appreciation for champagne after this tour.
