- johnrees27Canberra, Australia74 contributionsIf you are in Reims and seeking a different champagne tour do thisWe visited Pommery on a half day tour with A la Francaise/ Champagne. This is place that you have to see. It is not your traditional winery and the background is too much to properly describe here. What they have achieved is simply stunning. Our guide Chloe was fantastic.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 3, 2023
- CarlaJacksonville, Florida62 contributionsThe Best Champagne house in the area. This should be the #2 attraction in Reims (#1, Cathedral). It was the most outstanding champagne house we visited in the area; better than V. Cliquot, Moet Chandon, Ruinart. That is because of the stunning art in the caves. Wait to you see it. It is easy to just arrange your own trip and try to do it on the days their restaurant is open--that was an amazing lunch. We also toured the Villa across the street and that was great. Start your day with the Villa; tour the vineyards/caves after a great lunch at their restaurant. Wonderful place.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 24, 2023
- martindpLancashire, United Kingdom112 contributionsEngaging but...It depends what you want from a visit to a champagne house. This is deliberately different, and at least in our experience an extremely 'self-serve' style - surprisingly casual for a brand with claims to prestige. The Villa Demoiselle over the road (a Vranken property) is a really exceptional building for fans of deco/nouveau, with a glass of champagne at the end. Really well worth seeing. Pommery is basically an art installation in the chalk cellars, with a an art gallery in another part of the building. This was totally self-guided, and was certainly diverting and fun, but if you want to learn about champagne, maybe think of somewhere else. Staff seemed a bit disinterested, eg not taking care to check which language version of the information leaflets we needed. It's certainly well worth a combined visit, but not necessarily for the reasons you might expect.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 1, 2023
- Mal1960Seaforth, Australia219 contributionsWonderful tour deep underground followed by a good tasting. Most champagne houses were not open on Tuesday but we kept looking and secured a spot for an English tour at Pommery and so pleased we did. We turned out to be the only visitors so we ended up with an extraordinarily inexpensive priva tree tour. Etienne, the guide, was excellent. A wonderful mix of deep knowledge of champagne, history and production combined with the history of the industry. The highlight though was his briefing on the amazing Madame Pommery, a brilliant businesswoman and scientist well before her time. The tour was primarily deep underground and involved walking through some of 18 kms of cellars, past bottles dating back nearly 150 years. Modern art work and ancient signage and equipment added to the atmosphere. We wrapped with a tasting and a further briefing. The guide spoke excellent English and handled our numerous questions. A really enjoyable afternoon.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 29, 2023
- tdonc8Sydney, Australia204 contributionsTour with lunch and tastingsMy daughter and I did this tour with an accompanying lunch and tastings after. Loved the tour - both the information and history of Pommery as well as fabulous art installed throughout the tour. Lunch gave a couple of options for each of the 3 courses and was absolutely delicious. Accompanying Champagne tastings with each course made the lunch spectacular.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 23, 2023
- liverpool1023London, United Kingdom1,192 contributionsImpressive cellar tourWithin walking distance of the middle of Reims, Pommery looks like a brightly painted Victorian institutional building from the outside. Pommery had a rich history and leaves a strong legacy behind; the cellar visit reflects this. This is a very different experience to the cellar visits in Epernay with cellars being of a much grander scale. Huge shafts descend to the cellar ceilings bringing in light and humidity. Large art installations provide a gallery experience. there are regular 19th neoclassical friezes of a massive scale. This remains a working cellar and more workmanlike storage can be glimpsed in addition to the storage vaults. Thanks to Luis, our guide for the day who really brought the stories behind all of these features to life.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 23, 2023

The staff was friendly, informative, and hospitable. There caves were amazing to explore. Guests were able to sample 2 glasses of champagne.Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten January 12, 2024
- A L10 contributionsThoroughly enjoyable visit to Pommery!Kind and helpful staff Villa was fascinating - we did the double visit and tasting. Also the self guided tour. Champagne caves were really interesting and filled with interesting art works and reliefs - a champagne gallery !! Also still used. Tasting was very good 🥂 and of course we went away with a few more bottles of delicious and delightful champagne than planned 🙄😄 All very relaxed. Easy to find. Easy free parking! Good to go early as it was much busier in the afternoon. Recommended!Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 17, 2024
- inchik_dream30 contributionsFinally, a Great Champagne experience you can do with Kids.Great Experience, even with 2 kids (7y and 13y old). Its a mix of champagne caves, museum, interactive installations (like legos), beautiful grounds. Great trip for families. It is 45 min walk from Reims train station, so a very nice stroll to explore the city.Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 8, 2024
- JennLa Jolla, California86 contributionsGoodNice experience but I’m sure it would have been better with a tour guide. We booked a self guided tour. Champagne was very nice. Although we did enjoy visiting Veuve Cliquot more. If you have time it’s worth a stop.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 12, 2024

I thought the price of admission (€16) which includes one coupe of champagne was really steep for what you get.
A very poor showing, I'd say. Looks very glitzy on the inside, almost Disney Land-esque, but that just serves as a cover for knocking money out of your pocket and giving you very little in return.

Staff at the ticket desk issued 4 tickets for a tour that had already passed. There are only a few tours in English each day so we had to wait for 3 hours for the next one. We got to the meeting point 25 minutes early but our guide didn’t show up. Other staff said she was running late. After a while we discovered that she’d taken other people for a tour in Spanish at the same time. We then had to rush to join that group but missed the start of the tour. The guide then complained that doing the tour in two languages would take her twice as long. She tried her best but didn’t really give us much information and we might have got more from the self guided tour. Children were running around freely in the tunnels and jumping on one of the art exhibits. The staff noticed but didn’t feel able to do anything. We were given the tour as a wedding present and our family member spent about €150 for the tickets. I realise that we might just have been unlucky, but it was very disorganised and no one wanted to take responsibility for anything. Very disappointing experience.

This was by far the best champagne house that we have ever visited. Pommery has a beautiful, grand entrance to a spectacular building and there's so much to do, I wish we had more time there. We will definitely be back again.
The Caves were a wonderful experience and unexpectedly thrilling with art installations scattered throughout, this made our experience so much fun, we probably spent nearly 2 hours in the caves enjoying them. There was lots of information about Pommery and the process of champagne production to look at and read about everywhere. The bar area had nice sofa's that you could sit and enjoy your champagne in and there's a restaurant on site which I wish we could have tried as the menu looked very nice but unfortunately we hadn't allowed enough time.
Do not miss visiting the amazing pommery if you're in Reims and allow plenty of time for your experience.

Pommery provides an audio guided tour of their cellars. The tour mainly focuses on their history and on art, with additional temporary art installations as well. Beautiful environment but you don’t get to see the production and the information about the production process is very short.

The tour guide is an excellent choice, 10 euros more really make the difference in the whole experience. We took the one at 52 euros with also the demoiselles villa. Excellent and very explicative guy Lucas. Really appreciated also the tasting of the two champagne glasses in the villa gardens.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Pommery tour. They’ve made the tour self guided and allow you to download an app or get a pamphlet of the tour. The artwork in the caves was so interesting and we had an excellent time. It is dark in these caves, so keep that in mind! We also visited another large champagne house in the area and much preferred this experience. It’s not as commercialized as some of the other options and the art exhibits give it personality!

Disappointing tour. It felt rushed, the guide was going over a script and did not know answers to all questions. The tour was 50% about art and not much about the process of champagne making. I would go to another champagne house for a tour next time.

This wine tour was good. As it was self guided , it was hard to obtain all the information about the cellars but that was not the tours purpose as it was somewhat informational but mainly a fun activity to look at all the art work, and take in the surroundings with your group. After the tour there was a small wine tasting which was good. Overall a good experience.

We took an English tour of the caves. The guide was barely understandable and compared to the GH Mumm tour we took the day before, was weak in details and uninspiring. The caves are old and massive but the tour doesn’t tell you much about them. The art , however, was interesting and unusual. The champagne was fine. Be careful going down the steps - no OSHA here - they are worn, wet, and have funky moving lights so you are descending in the dark at times. Better tour available elsewhere for the money. ($25).

Hi! What other houses would your recommend in the area? Also, is transportation in Reims easy to get from one house to the other? Thanks!
Written September 18, 2019
We had a car so going to the champagne houses were pretty easy for us. However, most of them are pretty easy to get to on foot or taxi for less then 10 euros.I liked Pommery, Mum and Dom the best.

Where do we enter on foot?
Written July 30, 2018
It’s a large compound surrounded by a fence. Get to the street address and walk in go down the driveway and it will be clear where you enter for the tour. You’ll love it! It’s one of the colder cave tours - think about a sweater/sweatshirt for the tour.
