The garden only ticket at Villandry has to be on of the best value days out in the Loire Valley at just €9 for an adult. We have visited Villandry many times but never in very late August and it was absolutely stunning. The potager (kitchen garden) was at the peak of ripe and lovely perfection. It might seem hard... it was an memorable experience, impressed by the vegetable garden. Actually we didn’t go to house tour but we were fun. Someday we will take more time here

This is one of the major highlights for us in our visit to the Loire area. Allow a full day. Stunning gardens over a huge area that must be seen from the ground and above. The chateau interior is also very good and? is decorated in a later period, not as an ancient chateau bút you do get to see... More

For vegetable and flower gardeners and lovers of design - this is one of the wonders of the world. No journey to the Loire Valley would be complete without visiting this garden and the house.

We visited mid September when the colours in the gardens were vibrant and the fruit, herbs, vegetables were ripe and all the plants together made an explosion of colour. The Chateau is beautiful and an interesting place to visit. Lots of information is available in English so if your French is not good like mine you can make the most... More

This is a must do even if you aren't a garden enthusiast. The skill and precision is awe inspiring. Every vista is perfect and carefully thought through. My only very small complaint is that visitors can only view the main knot gardens from the outside, no walking between the box hedges to get a closer view. The staff are very... More

My wife and I just biked the Loire Valley and stopped here to visit. Incredible gardens! Worth the visit and to spend time enjoying! The gardens are superb! One of the last chateaus built in the Loire.

Come here just for the gardens. They are immaculate, very organised, Capability Brown would have a seizure!! The chateaus itself looks lovely, however not much inside. Makes you really appreciate what the National Trust has done to our stately homes. Definitely worth a visit.

Here the focus is on the 8 gardens that make up the grounds of Villandry. While the chateau itself is lovely, plan to spend most of your time walking through the gardens, stopping to sit on one of the many benches to admire the views in different directions. Wander through the potager and image the meals produced from the abundance.... More

The woodlands above the main chateau is a delightful place to wander away from the crowds. It can be slippery underfoot so good shoes are a necessity. It is well worth exploring this area. Then there is the contrast with coming down into the formal gardens. The colourful flowers between the box hedges is like looking into a kaleidoscope. Absolutely... More
