Although currently based in France, we have had National Trust and English Heritage membership in the UK for many years. I say this as a prelude to recording my wife’s assessment as the gardens at Villandry being the best she has ever seen. The house and its contents are pleasant but not exceptional by the standards of French historic buildings.... More

For me, the most beautiful experience from all castles of Loire. The castle itself is small, but cute, wonderfully furnished also with photos and reminders of Carvallo family. The gardens are unbelievable - and it´s really good to see them from the tower first. For me, the most incredible was sun and monn garden in the upper side and the... More

Climb up to the belvedere, from there can see the Labyrinth four squares which make up the Love gardens. #Tender_Love, #Passionate_Love #Flighty_Love #Tragic_Love When I finish visit the whole castle I've thought the King must be very Romantic person. So stunning, beautiful and must visit!!!

This is a must-go! The chateau is very nice and open to public and you can go up the entire Keep tower to have a great overview of the gardens. You won't spend too much time in the chateau itself because the gardens is what it is all about here! They are not extensive, but large enough to keep you... More

Of the many options available to visit this is perhaps the most balanced visit in the Valley of the Chateaux. You have a good balance between interior and exterior spectacular, quite rare in my opinion in this area. There is also an excellent eating facility outside the grounds as well as a 2 minute walk to the village. If you... More

These lovely gardens are well worth a visit. There is something for everyone, including children. The car parks on this sunny Sunday were well stocked with cars but the gardens did not feel at all crowded. How only ten gardeners can keep these complicated designs so perfectly groomed is an enigma.

A must see when visiting the area. I've never found it to be too busy, even in the middle of August . The gardens are stunning as is the chateau it's self. Take a picnic and relax in the grounds or save your self for lunch at la terrace just by the gates. Children under 8 are free

We dropped in on this beautiful place by chance whilst driving along the Loire. We are a young couple with a dog and went straight through in the gardens, they were spectacularly peaceful and we spent about an hour and a half making our way round the recommended walk and exploring the sights. Really enjoyed this place and discovering the... More

We had many problems navigating the wheelchair around uneven ground and slopes in the gardens. We did not go in the castle as it was not wheelchair accessible. Needs improving. The garden itself was pretty, however. The small black and white cat there was definitely the highlight of my visit!

Went here a little sceptically, but had a lovely time. The house was renovated around the turn of the last century by an interesting American woman and her Spanish husband. Some of the rooms bear history of their family home which is interesting in its own way. The gardens - worked on a three year rotation basis - use flowers... More
