This museum will not be for everyone but I am interested in French history and this is one of the most fascinating museums I have ever visited. The Compagnons du Devoir is a very old worker's movement, more or less unique to France. It was somewhat similar to a guild, but much more than a guild. I think the best... More

From the reviews, I thought I was really going to enjoy this quirky museum. Don't get me wrong, it's fun - but rather repetitive. There are some fabulous models - I found the ones of complex angled stone arches mesmerising - but there's an awful lot of heavy dark wood about and a slightly disquieting feeling of resistance to progress... This is a museum for guilds. So will find shoes to iron work to building and believe it or not cakes. It is quite interesting for the master craft work and history. It is worth a visit.

This museum of masterpieces from the various craft-guilds of Tours is filled with all manner of peculiar curios. From massive model towers build to showcase a carpenter's handiwork, to finely detailed iron cabinets or lock mechanisms, to elaborate sugarcraft castles and monuments, there are plenty of things worth goggling at. Most of the description is in French but there is... More

If not for Tripadvisor we would not have found this wonderful museum. It's hidden away down by the river a stone's throw from the heart of the city but not really signposted. It's full of the weird and wonderful, made all the more so by the lack ofany English translations. Pagodas made out of chocolate coloured icing, twisted and knotted... More

This museum was a great surprise! It's actually been 5 years I'm living in Tours and I never took time to go there. This museum is insane, honsetly if you want to see what patience is, just go, amazing pieces of work in lots of different fields.

This museum is absolutely unique! I have never seen anything remotely like it: case after case containing exceptional works of craftsmanship. There were four of us and we went round the museum twice and even went back again the next day. Also have to say thanks to Patrick on reception for his very warm welcome and providing extra information about... More

This museum is looking at the history of craftsmen and women over the years and the setting up of the Guilds in France. It was informative and the exhibits are very skilful.

You can see a lot of masterpieces of famous companions, and the musee is a beautiful place in the city of Tours. I don't know very well the values of Companionship and the musee is a place to learn how companions made their masterpieces and their high human values. You can visit this musee as you like.
