The Royal Chateau of Blois is your gateway into the Val de Loire. The Royal Chateau of Blois is the first important place to discover as you come from Paris. It is a true synthesis of the art and history of the Loire Valley chateaux, and makes it an ideal introduction for your visit. The rich architecture of the four different wings echoes the diversity of styles of the many chateaux built in the Loire Valley from the Middle Ages to the 17th Century.

We purposely came to Blois after seeing good reviews of its light show. Our kids loved Rouen light show, which we discovered by accident in a late night stroll, and thought Blois would complete the experience and learning about Joan of Arc with the supposedly number 1 light show as a bonus. We were absolutely disappointed. History lesson was ok... More

This castle is really amazing and you can see the various styles of building, from neo-gothic to renaissance. The stairs in the picture were supposably planned by da Vinci. We went there again in the evening, for a sound and light show, which was also very interesting. If you are a bit familiar with the history of France, it is... More

We were there for an afternoon with the kids, they had a lot of fun at the sword fighting show but the rest of the museum was a bit boring for them. It was interesting for us but with small kids I would give it a miss.

The chateau was nice to visit, would have like to see more of the rooms with furnishings. Our favorite activity was renting bikes and going around the property. Even saw some wild boar in the forest.

This Chateau is so interesting and beautiful to walk through. I definitely recommend picking up and audio guide for €4, the commentary is wonderful and it walks you through every room. It only highlights a few paintings in the fine arts museum, but that is fine with me. I love history and there is an obvious progression of architecture here.... More

Visited the Chateau Royal with my wife while on a touring holiday. Well worth the 10 Euros we both paid. There are lots of unusual things to see. A real insight into how the French Royals lived hundreds of years ago.

4 architectural period come together in this one castle. The interiors are real treasures for renaissance wall and floor finishes as well as for furniture and fireplaces. Very inspiring for interior designers!

This castle is very interesting because of its different parts from different periods. As a French loving History I would highly recommend this chateau. To get the best experience, follow a guide (free) and he or she will tell you all the secrets of that wonderful place. Don't forget to take a nice picture of all the town from there,... More
