About

A superb venue for a gallery, the chateau is fabulous. The art work was exceptional. Highly recommended. Even if you are not always convince by contempory art give it a go, it's stunning, not just a light bulb going on and off or a poor quality video of someone painting themselves.

The chateau has been reopened after a couple of years, and its main function now is as a backdrop for a ‘son et lumière’ / digital art exhibition. There is no furniture or explanation of previous use of rooms, no reference to its history. It’s an interesting idea, and a nice way to spend an hour in Beaugency.

Perfectly depicts the mood and style of a certain historical time. Jeanne D'Arc lived in this castle.

We turned up to visit it in September 2019 and a sign on the door stated that it was now closed. No explanation, no date as to when it might reopen. Instead, go and visit the chateau at nearby Meung-sur-Loire, an altogether more pleasurable experience.

A lovely chateau in a lovely town. We stopped in Beaugency on our trip from Orleans to Tours. It is worth a stop for the chateau and to walk around town. Start at the tourist office -- we found them to be very helpful (also the public toilets are behind the office).

Located right in the town, it is interesting and well curated, and never crowded from what I could see. The oak roof is impressive when seen from inside, and VR tablets are provided with entry tickets, although these are limited enough and not really worth bothering with.

Take the tablet tour (no extra charge) it is informative, and has a gadget that shows you the room in VR how it was back in the days. Several rooms are well redone to give you an idea of how the chateau was and how the people lived. Interesting and nice refuge from the heat wave outside : )

Hidden gem we found in Beaugency! We were only staying in town for overnight, when found this castle in the morning. We hesitated to enter but we're pleasantly surprised! They offer a complimentary iPad-Visioguide which gave us a lot of information about the place and medieval lifestyle in general and was fun to play with. The castle is worth a visit is staying in town or even passing by on the way to other Castles in Loire valley.

This is not a large or elaborate chateau but is historically interesting and beautifully presented. Well worth a visit - good for children as well as adults.

Great museum thanks to the explanations on various aspects of the Middle Age life (in French): Food, chevalery, etc.
Also interesting story about the building usage as working camp for beggars until early 20th century.

Bonjour,

A bientôt !

Bonjour,
Bien cordialement,
Xavier Lelevé
