We started the route near the trainstation. We could easily follow the route as the owls were all over the street and we saw nice monuments on the way. However, suddenly the owls completely dissapeared (near the tourist office) so we gave up. Then we saw them again a few streets further but as we missed a few numbers we walked back, where the route stopped again. We returned to the markings we found, but the route quickly stopped another time. We definitely gave up. The route is too poorly marked. Do it well or just remove the owls, this is annoying.

Hello, we thank you and we take into account your comment about the missing arrows on the owl’s trail. It is true that in some places few arrows are missing because of recent renovation works such as Place Notre-Dame near the Tourist Office. We hope very soon to be able to solve this problem. We look forward to welcome you back in our city, Kind regards

Our host in Dijon recommended us to make a your through the city with the trail of the owl. It’s a nice and easy way to get to know the main sights without having to depend on a guided tour.

We followed the owl trail. If you have kids with you, just get the free map from tourist info; the guide would take too long. Generally you can follow the small owl arrows on the ground, but map helps where they are missing. The big owl plaques set up great photos, but to be honest every corner reveals another great shot. Dijon is just so beautiful and on street parking was plentiful and cheap (mind you COVID might have made it quieter than normal!

Walking through a city, as most tourists do, is hard with kids. They don't care about how old buildings are. They don't care about different architectural aspects. And, they don't care about the particular cuteness of this street or that street. But with the Owl's Trail, they at least had something to do. Meaning, find the Owls. The trail itself takes you by some great parts of the old town and a number of historic landmarks. If you don't really have an agenda, this is a fun, easy and free way to see the town. It does get hard to find the small bronze triangles on the ground at times. Cafe tables, new sections of concrete, etc all conspire against the traveler. But, with a little effort, the trail can be found again with relative ease. While there is nothing inherently exciting in the Owl's Trail, it can help a family navigate a beautiful old town like Dijon while keeping the kids moderately interested! And that counts for something! So, I would definitely recommend it.
