The Museum is being reconstructed. The project is vast and a tribute to the French emphasis on culture. We are from Cleveland, OH. and by a quirk of history six of the Mourners from the Tombs of the Ducs of Bourgogne are in the Cleveland Museum. The Musee des Beaux-Arts has replicas and notes the originals are in Cleveland. Nice... More

I knew Burgundy was a quasi-independent and rich entity in its day, but I was not prepared for the overhwhelming richness and beauty of the art and architecture in this musee. The ornate lifelikeness of the tombs is incredible. The golden triptychs are magnificent. You even see Joan of Arc's sword. Even with part of the musee closed, it is... More

and its FREE!! Actually all of Dijon's museums are free with the sole exception of the privately-owned one on r.d. Bons Enfants, Muse Magnin. The Beaux-Arts is top-quality, with a superb collection of paintings, sculptures and other old stuff attractively-displayed in bright rooms. It is under wraps just now BUT STILL OPEN! A great rainy day activity if that matters... More

The Beaux Art Museum is currently undergoing extensive renovation and only the Medieval art w/ some Renaissance art is available, mostly church art. When the renovations are done, it will be worth a visit.

Free museums are always a bonus! Was in town for one night and stumbled across this museum while out walking. It is well worth an hour plus visit to take it in. There is some renovation going on so maybe some of it is closed, I'm not quite sure.

Both Middle-Ages and Renaissance sections of the museum are highly recommeded. A variety of artistic objects: especially paintings. The difference between the two styles are explained also in English, although in some displays only Frence is given. The Dijon duke tomb room should not be missed. In short, a must-see place. I think a whole section was closed for reconstruction/
