The palace is a must see if you are in Dijon. Not as grand as the national palaces but extremely interesting and a terrific insight into how the Dukes of Burgundy lived.

The Palais des Ducs is a grand group of well preserved Gothic buildings, dating from the 14th to 18th century.

It is the main sight in Dijon city and not to be missed.

The key buildings are the loggia on Pl. de la Liberation, the ducal kitchens, the tour de Philippe le Bon and the the palace itself which houses the Musee des Beaux - Arts and Hotel de Ville.

Entrance is free.

Free entry .,but make sure the rooms you want to see are open. A great deal of work is going on in the interior of the Palace.and some rooms were closed.when we visited.
I took a group of 25 adults to see the tombs of the Dukes of Burgundy.Absolutely beautiful, a must see when visiting Dijon. My group were spellbound by the craftsmanship and magnificence of the tombs..
Lots of other wonderful exhibits, paintings, sculpture and some beautiful religious artefacts.
Nice little coffee shop, reasonably priced. The toilets are extremely difficult to find so allow plenty of time!!!.

This is a typical historical trip in France -- see how the rich lived a long time ago. Still, the building and the art collection is worth a visit. Best, the joint is in the center of Dijon, so it's handy for a quick stop.

A visit here gives one a glimpse into the splendour and opulence of the Dukes of Bourgogne. Paintings and magnificent tombs require some time to truly appreciate their history. Unfortunately, we were short on time so did not have this luxury. However, definitely worth a visit no matter how rushed.

Very surprised.. We didn't expect such an amazing palace.
The squire in front of it full of restaurants and cafes which we had our lunch there.. And the kids enjoyed running between the water fountains in the middle of the squire.

The view from the tower was awesome! Well worth climbing the steps. Very reasonably priced. Could use some more info on how it was built, the guide just unlocks the door.

The palace is occupied in part by the Musée des Beaux Arts, Dijon Tourism Office and Dijon municipal government. A fitting monument to the power of the Dukes of Burgundy, the palace will not "wow" you like Versailles, the Louvre, or Buckingham Palace, but as a regional palace, is remarkable simply in that it has survived through so much war and strife. It will nevertheless please anyone who fancies architecture. Note that the palace is undergoing extensive renovations as of June, 2012 that severely limit how much of it you can see, and the Ducal tombs have been removed are on tour. I would still suggest you visit, even with these limitations, and if the weather permits, do not miss the chance to climb the tower of Philip the Good for a great view of the City of Dijon.

Very impressive Ducal palace. The one opening to the public is a museum now, but you can still feel the power of Duke of Burgundy, one of the more important dukes, just below the King of France in ancient times. The plaza in front of the palace is a good place to have a drink, relax. I did not go up the tower, and I was told the view up there is spectacular.
