Our full day small group tour to the vineyards and Beaune was led by Thomas, an excellent guide. His knowledge of wine and the wine industry was extraordinary. We had a wonderful, informative day with him, enjoyed his sense of humour. The vehicle was immaculate and very comfortable, taking just 6 people so the tour was very personalised. I would definitely recommend this tour to visitors to Dijon.

Thomas was very knowledgeable about the wines in the Burgundy region, after spending some time with us he was able to recognize what our taste was, we were very impressed with him. We did Cote de Nuits-tour the first day and Cote de Beaune the second day with a delicious lunch as well. We tried some exceptional Gran Crus and Premier Crus, also visited amazing estates and vineyards. We learned about the different appellations, and about Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We highly recommend booking your tour with Authentica.

We spent a lovely day with our wine tour guide and wine enthusiast Sébastien. Sébastien was professional, very knowledgeable and passionate about wine, we learnt a lot from him about burgundy wine and we found this tour very interesting. He tailor made the tour based on our tastes. He was able to communicate in both French and English too which was great. When visiting this area - this tour is a must.

Ann was a great tour guide. Directions to find the start were helpful and I had a great day as a solo tourist with others from Hong Kong, the US, and Switzerland. Ann gave us history, terroir understanding, delicious wine in a beautiful and safe setting. I highly recommend the full day tour out of Dijon.

We had a great one and a half day private Burgundy tour! Beautiful scenery and fantastic wines. We had access to some exclusive cellars and an awesome meal included at one. Our tour guide, Thomas, was entertaining and intelligent. We learned a lot and had a blast! Highly recommended!

We were supposed to have a tour to Beaune, and because we were 3 we got huge chances to got it cancelled. But, they offered us instead an excursion to côte de nuits... it was better than expected! Emmanuel was a super guide! He explained us everything about the wine making process, took us to 2 places for wine tasting and to the vineyards... I just know how to better enjoy wine thanks to him. This excursion made our experience at Dijon unforgettable even in Corona times! Def if I come back I will go for another excursion with them :)

Bonjour Adilia. Thanks for your lovely review. Yes, times are complicated but we are lucky in Burgundy to be able to enjoy far from the crowd of the big cities. I sent the recipe for duck breast with crème de cassis to Vineeta. To accompany this, I suggest you the the Beaune 2018 from Jean-Claude Rateau or the Gevrey-Chambertin village from Domaine Leclerc which you could not resist ;) Thanks again for your visit. I had a great time. Hope to see you here sometime soon again and your father could join us next. Emmanuel

We did the half day tours setting off from Dijon around 1.30 returning 6.45. This is a most convivial way to tick-off the most alcoholic of all the World Heritage sites. Setting off from Dijon we were a small group of seven in an eight seater mini bus. Driving in a southerly direction through a succession of small, pretty villages, chateaux and vineyards. There is a concentration of grand and premier cru in this area. There was a photo op at the famous Romanee Conti. There was a tasting of six wines from local producers at a cave along the way. The final stop was at Beaune, where we had one hour of free time to explore before heading back to Dijon.

Our guide, Dylan, made to trip hugely enjoyable. He was a local, living in one of the small villages along the way. He was enthusiastic and immensely knowledgable. I suspect if you cut him he would likel bleed Pinot noire.....or at least a blend.

It's important for me to share my wine knowledge to travelers like you. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Burgundy If you cut me it will be defenitly a blend because when i'm working I must spit out the wine..!! Thank you again, and see you soon in Burgundy. Dylan.

My fiance surprised me for my 30th birthday with a day trip to Dijon and a half-day wine tour with Authentica. We had a great time on this tour and learned a lot about Burgundy Winemaking. The Wines were incredible! We bought some to take home with us. We even got the opportunity to stand in a vineyard and learn about the way the vines are pruned and trained. Based on all of this, I would have given this tour a solid 5 stars and would gladly recommend it to anyone.

Our tour guide was a fantastic English speaker and very responsive to our questions. However, he made upwards of 6 or 7 discouraging comments (disguised as jokes or innocent comments) about women. He even apologized to me at one point and said he was just kidding. Later in the trip, he made another comment that made the entire group feel uncomfortable, one person saying "ok last one!" One example of his comments: "My only problem with this wine is that it was made by a woman." No one thought these jokes were funny and was clearly making guests uncomfortable. If he can't be more respectful of women, he shouldn't be running tours.

We took a 4 hour tasting tour. What a dissapointment. We spend almsot the entire just driving in the minivan! And the tour guide was not very talkative, instead we had to pull out information from him like pulling out teeth. We also did not go to a real winery to taste wine. Instead he took us to a wine shop, where we were probably expected to buy the expensive wine too. The next day we took things into our own hands and went to the wine producer's directly in the different villages (we went to GRavery- Chambertien) And there we could taste all the wine we like for FREE. And the owners were much more informative about their production and wine than the tour guide. That's a much more "authentic" experience than this tour. We also found out later that this particular tour guide agency is the most expensive in the entire region, aparently because they think people associate a higher price with more quality. But here are many many more that are way cheaper and offer better service. So don't be fooled, like us, by the high rating on tripadvisor. Regards, Oana

Bonjour Oana. We thank you for your comments as we give a great importance to our customers’ feedback. Indeed we consider this as an opportunity to improve ourselves and our services. We sincerely regret that you were not fully satisfied with your tour. Your guide works in wineries since many years. He even works for the University of Dijon. We choose the wineries to visit with several criteria: - Quality of the wine that you can taste: the Côte de Nuits vineyard is the area where are produced almost all Grand Cru red from Burgundy. For this quality there is almost no limit for the cost of the wine. In the winery where you went they have a good range of wines which start at 8 € a bottle. - Architecture of the wine cellar: as the traditional vaulted cellar built in 1632 that you visited. - Reception of the owner: Jean Jacques is a wine specialist of Burgundy and gave an interview each morning on the regional radio called “France Bleu Bourgogne” Burgundy wines are expensive because of their rarity (3% only of the French production). There is, of course, no obligation to purchase wine during our tours as we pay the tastings for our clients. This is very important for us and for the comfort of our guests. That is advertised in our brochure and we mention that during the tours. Our tour Discovery is a blend of sightseeing in the backcountry and vineyard including a wine tasting as detailed in our brochure. We drive into the countryside, alongside the Burgundy canal, and visit the medieval village of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. Then we join the Côte de Nuits vineyard and have a wine tasting. Maybe the tour Discovery was not the best tour for you. According to your expectations, we would recommend you our tour Burgundy. It’s a shorter tour with less drive and two wine tasting stops including a family-run estate. Concerning the costs of the tours, you can check on-line that these are the same (or even cheaper) than other companies in Dijon: www.authentica-tours.com We are very sorry that you didn’t enjoy your trip with our company but be sure that the most important for us is to suit our expectation and to give you a unique opportunity to discover Burgundy in an insider’s perspective.

While on a 6 day vacation in Paris, we decided to take a 1 day trip to Dijon specifically to go on a wine tour. We found the Authentica Burgundy and Cheeses tour and read countless great reviews on trip advisor, many of which claimed it to be the highlight of a vacation. With that in mind we shelled out 98 euro each for round trip train tickets, plus 65e each for the tour. Our tour guide Emmanuel was very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. We were late to meet him due to confusing construction in the area with many streets closed down, however he did wait for us and was understanding. He drove us through the Gran Cru area of Cotes de Nuits, emphasizing the quality and desirability of Gran Cru Pinot Noir from the area. We stopped along a plot of vines and admired the countryside. So far so good. Our next stop was the "winery", the beginning of our disappointment. Unless there is something lost in translation, I am under the impression that winery means a place where wine is produced. I expected therefore, a tour of a typical winery, viewing the process of making the wine, and culminating with a tasting of wine produced at that winery. What we were taken to instead was a wine store. Indeed this wine store is on the foundation of what was historically a winery, with a very impressive wine cellar beneath it, set up as a kind of museum. However, in no way is this currently a winery. The cellar houses a large tasting table and various pictures describing the wine making process, and some barrels and bottles for atmosphere. The tasting came next, along with more disappointment. We tasted small portions of 2 white wines, and 3 reds in increasing quality, however we stopped short of Gran Cru. I appreciate the fact that Gran Cru is expensive, however the tour focuses on the Gran Cru region and it's quality and we never get to taste it. At 65 euro, I think it is reasonable to expect tasting the focus of the tour. We finished with a sip of Creme de Cassis back in the wine store, where people not on tour were tasting the same wines as we did. Finally we headed to the cheese factory. At this time in the afternoon there was nothing happening at the factory, so again this was more a visit to the store. We tried 5 small pieces of cheese with a slice of bread and a glass of regional red wine. There was a brief mention of pairing different wines with different cheeses in general, not the discussion on how to pair that I expected from it being mentioned as a feature in the tour description. We bought some cheese in the shop, which was atleast made on site, however the tasting was advertised in store to the general public for 4.50e. Following this, we drove back to the pickup location. Emmanuel was kind enough to bring us directly to the train station, and even placed a call for a reservation at a local restaurant. We did tell him we enjoyed the tour, mostly because he was a good guide and I don't think the structure of the tour is under his control.

Pros: excellent tour guide, knowledgable, friendly, extremely accomodating, and very good English. Transport thru the country side with a good deal of historical information. A thorough explanation of the Burgundy wine classification system.

Cons: advertised as a visit to a typical winery of the Gran Cru region of Cotes du Nuits however we visited a wine store NOT a winery. We could have had the same experience in any wine store selling Cotes du Nuits Pinot Noir. The tour information should not claim to visit a winery if it does not do so. If the loophole is that this store is built on the site of an old winery, that is very misleading.
No taste of Gran Cru!! After such great explanation and praise of Gran Cru, in the Gran Cru region, not tasting it is a huge disappointment and unexpected. Gran Cru is the highlight of the tour in information, so it is expected that we would taste it, or be told upfront that we would not be. Besides the ride to the cheese factory, we did no more than the average customer can do and see for 4.50e.

Knowing what we do now, and what we should have known before signing up, we would never have paid this much for the tour. The choice to travel from Paris to Dijon for the tour was ours, and likely not the long distance most people travel to take this tour, however the decision was made expecting much more from this tour, as advertised. Bottom line is there is no visit to a winery, which is clearly what is advertised.

Bonjour Sharon We thank you for your comments as we give a great importance to our customers’ feedback. Indeed we consider this as an opportunity to improve ourselves and our services. Winemaking is seasonal and unfortunately we were not able to see the process of making the wine during your period. The best season to see winemakers working is the harvest (starting usually in late September). In April, wine was ageing in cask, tanks were empty and winepresses were off. As advertised, we don’t taste Grand Cru on the tour “Burgundy and cheeses”. Nevertheless we taste wines of Regional, Village and even Premier Cru classification (10% of the production). Grand Cru is a very rare wine (less than 2% of the Burgundy wine production). The avarage for a bottle of Grand Cru from Côte de Nuits and easily the cost of the tour. We offer other tours including a Grand Cru tasting (Passion tour, Charm tour or private tours) or with more wine tasting as advertised on our brochure & website. We have usually excellent feedbacks and reviews from our clients on our Burgundy and cheeses tour. We sincerely regret that you were not fully satisfied. Regards Emmanuel & Nicolas
