This is one of the greatest attractions when visiting Beaune. I was approaching the church from the rear of the building and immediately noticed the gothic chevet of the eastern side façades. The front entrance has three gothic portals and the interior gives you that sense of tranquility and peace. Most days it's open to the public until noon and again late afternoon until about 4 or 5 pm. It's sober interior is well presented and typical of its original design there's an ambulatory area behind the main apse. There had been modifications, understandably, but the overall ambience of peaceful existence remains. Absolutely worth visiting if you're visiting Beaune.

Seen many such churches around the world and this didn’t have any wow factor for me. The best part was the Stain glass windows seen from inside when the sun is shining through.
If in Beaune I think it’s a must see.

One thing about France is the number and size of the churches each town has.
The Collegiale is an impressive building and situated at the centre of Beaune. The exterior while large is not overwhelming and more inviting than others. Once inside you are able to appreciate the open area and space.

Despite its relatively modest size, the Cathedral Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-Beaune is one of the last great Romanesque churches in Burgundy. It was completed in the XII century. However, the cathedral could not maintain stylistic unity. Changing the windows after the fire, they were replaced with Gothic ones. The flying buttresses who also hails from Gothic. The famous Viollet-le-Duc had a hand in the cathedral, drawing up a plan for its restoration. The creator of Carcassonne and Pierrefonds was able to give a medieval appearance lost by the XIX century, or add if it was not originally there. However, it was not he, but his son-in-law Maurice Ouradou who carried out the restoration along with the Hotel Dieu.

Basilique Notre_Dame de Beaune is a wonderful part of Beaune's architectural history.
Situated in the centre of the old town it is more ornate from outside than inside.
Worth a visit.

I was simply astonished finding so nice series of tapestries about Virgin Mary life, with different episodes including Jesus trimming (I never saw something like this is Christians painting or tapestry). It's really amazing in the morning (open from 10 AM), when the sun shines nice and help you to see these amazing tapestries better. It's a real gem!!!

The exterior of the church was impressive. Once inside was a bit disappointing, but for a town the size of Beaune was still a nice church to spend a few minutes in.

A Must Visit. And the most beautiful Stained-Glass Windows.

This was a stone's throw from our hotel. And an incredible experience.

I liked the outside better than the inside. It didn't inspire me like some Churches. A bit of a mixture.

In all honesty, I didn't see the basilica during the day. But in walking back to Le Cep after dinner we experienced one of the best light shows I've seen in years. I don't know if it happens all the time, or was part of a special light exhibit--there were several around town. But it is definitely not something to be missed!!
