- Wendy V1,109 contributionsPassionate Sharing of WineWe came for a tasting and were treated to passion about wine, that's for sure! The owner gave us a bilingual presentation, switching from French to English, because we were a mixed group of French and Canadian people. You definitely get the basics of French wine-making in this area and you come away with an understanding of why they do not irrigate their vineyards and how they view the relationship with the terroir of the region. Very interesting, but not for everyone. The owner does not suffer fools easily and, while I do not think I ask particularly foolish questions, I felt that some of my comments and inquiries were scoffed at, because I am from North America (and therefore couldn't possibly know anything about wine…)Visited October 2019Written February 25, 2020
- Michael K1 contributionIncredible ExperienceThis was an absolutely amazing experience. Emmanuel is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the wines of Burgundy. We had a private wine tasting in the cave cellars below the shop and it was truly a unique and memorable moment of our vacation. Thank you Emmanuel for hosting us and introducing us to a small slice of your world.Visited July 2022Written August 2, 2022

- Carol K1 contributionYou Get What You Pay ForThis was a very reasonably priced tasting that included small producers. However, the pours were so stingy, we had trouble clearing our palates enough to really appreciate the wines. The wines, overall, were unremarkable and the tasting was rushed. Although we have knowledge of and experience with terroir, we got stereotyped as uninformed Americans when we dared say something slightly negative about the first red on the tasting. Then, we got a lecture about swirling too much. The experience was uncomfortable. We have probably had more than 100 tasting experiences in at least seven countries, including several in France, and have never had an experience that was this negative.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 10, 2023
- SydneyMummytraveller61 contributionsA good experience, that could have been greatLet's start with the positives, the location is easy to find in town, the tasting is a reasonable price, the owner seems to know his stuff and the setting is perfect. The disappointing aspect was that we were rushed through. The owner had some "very important" overseas clients upstairs and kept having to leave our tasting to dash off and attend to them. Overall a bit disappointing. Didn't feel we got the full experience but perhaps this was a one off.Visited September 2017Written September 18, 2017
- Peter SRugby, United Kingdom39 contributionsGreat ExperienceThe owner, who speaks English, is obviously an expert for the wines of this region. He holds a wine tasting experience which gives you the taste of 3 local wines with commentary on their production which was topped off with a tasting of the local Crème de Cassis ( which I had never before drunk other than mixed with white wine or champagne).Visited July 2017Traveled with friendsWritten July 31, 2017

He knows what he does and provided us with 6 beautiful wines. So, this year we came back with the same mission: Have Emanuel select 2 boxes of the best white wine in a budget. He kindly offered us a tasting, which was a lot of fun. We are looking forward to taste our Burgundy treasures and will be back next year for more!Visited July 2016Traveled as a coupleWritten July 13, 2016
- mike rBromsgrove, United Kingdom1,234 contributionsDisappointingWe visited with a river cruise tour and this was not the only wine tasting stop. The location is interesting and you are in caves which help the experience, unless you are tall! The wines we were offered were disappointing and many of the people in our group poured away the samples. I really didn't find a wine that I would buy especially since the town is full of wine stores and competition is fierce. The shop offers a limited range of wines to buy. Having come to Beaune on a number of occasions, we often try to hire a guide and spend a couple of days out in the vineyards meeting winemakers and learning about their wine and what they are trying to express relative to the terroir they're able to farm. This time, though, we weren't able to arrange a foray into the vineyards and were confined (is that really a bad thing??) to Beaune proper. That said, we were still looking for an opportunity to taste killer wines and meet someone close to the producers who could also represent them with confidence and enthusiasm.
Fortunately, we booked a prestige tasting with Emmanuel at Le Cellier de la Cabiote and had an absolutely marvelous time with him in his cellar for a private tasting! A child of Burgundy, Emmanuel knows his trade and is an excellent representative of the winemakers who allow him to sell their precious products in his store. Because we've been to Beaune so many times in the past, we were looking for a more high-end experience so splurged for the premier and grand cru tasting experience and were not disappointed at all--it was awesome! Best of all, we got to keep the bottles, so I am enjoying a beautiful glass of premier crus Savigny-les-Beanue as I type this review....how cool is that??
If you're on the fence about whether to book or not, just take the plunge. In addition to tasting great wine and learning about the region, you'll likely walk away with several bottles of amazing wine and a new friend named Emmanuel in Beaune...who could ask for more??

We came here on an excursion from Chalon where our cruise boat was moored. We were on the ms William Shakespeare operated by Riviera Travel.(5* great --review to follow)
If you visit vineyard cellars you invariably have a tasting of young wines not yet ready to drink, but not at Cabiote.
Emmanual gave us a tutored tasting including
Chablis 2017 Domaine Nicolle
Brouilly 2018 Saint Leger
and
Givry1er Cru 2017 Domaine Masse
and followed this with a shot of Creme De Cassis 20%
A great experience for wine lovers like us, and newcomers alike

We thoroughly enjoyed a 45 minute wine tasting here. The owner was marvelous...he passionately explained how each wine is identified by only one important factor...the land on which the grapes are grown. He had us sample 7 wines and each was delicious. A nice experience and very reasonably priced.
