Today we had a fantastic wine cave (cellar) tour and tasting at Bouchard Pere & Fila led by Clement! He first gave us a tour of the Bouchard wine caves and explained their history and showed their various vineyards on a map. He talked about their wine making process and transition to organics. The wine caves are extensive, covering 2 stories! Then we returned to a classroom setting for the tastings! Clement had information, maps, and a listing of the wines he was tasting. With each, he showed the vineyard the grapes came from on the map and explained how each year differed based on the weather and soil they were grown. We had 6 tastings- 3 red and 3 white. The reds were delicious! Not being a white wine drinker, all 3 of the whites were delicious!!! First time that happened 😁🍷. I commend Clement for his excellent tour and tasting! If you go here, hopefully you will get him! I recommend this winery for everyone as both reds and whites were excellent!

I scheduled a 10 am English tour (reservation is required) with Murrel, who spoke good English and was very knowledgeable about wine.
The first 20 min or so of the tour was about the family history, the cellar & the castle. On top of the castle, on a good day, you can see both Hautes Cotes de Nuits & Hautes Cotes de Beaune. The landscaping of the family residence was also very interesting.
The best part of the tour was tasting the wines. I tasted a total of 10 wines. My favorites were the "Beaune Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus" & the "Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru". That being said, the most expensive wine was the 'Chevalier Montrachet, which retails around $500 USD.
This tour was one of the highlights of my trip to Beaune!

The place is certainly worth seeing but I prefer the sightseeing in Le Patriarche or le Chateau de Mersault cellars. They are certainly more impressive though if you are a wine freak you should not miss Bouchard et Fils nor Bouchard Aine et Fils - both are interesting enough but if you do not have much time in Beaune, I would focus on Le Patriarche and Mersault (a little outside Beaune) just because the cellars are so overwhelmingly huge and so old that they really leave you speechless. Chateau de Pommard was a waste of time - very commercialized.

I went to Bouchard because it is one of the oldest wine maker in Burgundy. 19€ for the cellar visit and 6 wines tasting. It was disappointing both on the amount of info you get when visiting and the quality of the wines you taste. For a few more € you get more for your money in Meursault. I will not go back. The wines were average at best, we tasted them at a bar (instead of in the caves themselves in Meursault)...and the tour guide was greedy in information unless you asked him for questions. I felt Bouchard relied too much on his reputation and the guide was a nice chap but too sure of himself...at the verge of arrogant.
If you want a more refined wine tasting experience, go to Meursault. If you want to stay in Baune, go to Joseph Drouhin.

Very interesting history lesson of the town of Beaune and the winery. Tasting of some of their best wines. Should book ahead - with only one tour a day need to plan.

What a rip off this tour was. The woman spoke very rapidly in a heavy French accent so it was extremely difficult to understand her. She just recited facts and figures. No telling of stories about the family, the history, nothing to make this winery with its long history come alive. We had a small group and she never asked our names or where we were from. After being taken to 3 areas where we didn't understand what we were seeing we stood at a counter and were served 3 small tastes of white and then red wine. She didn't even show us what we were drinking. One area of the tour was where they store very old bottles and it would have been interesting to hear more stories about the bottles rather than a listing of the codes and what year they represent. I learned nothing about wine making and very little about the area except that we were given a nice map. The tour cost 25 Euros. There are a lot more wineries and better tastings and more friendly people who speak understandable English. Go to those, not Bouchard.

We visited just to buy wine. We wanted to spend money in their establishment but they were rude beyond belief. At first they insisted we do a cellar tour about 4 hours later that would be in english and come back (we have 2 young children who weren't up for that on this day). I then asked if i could solely buy wine but that i'd like to taste some before i did this, at which point i was clearly asking too much. I was moved into a corner (as a tour was coming to an end) and then ignored. What a shame. Worst service in bourgogne. If the staff can't cope with the tours and running a shop, then close then shop or sack the staff. We won't be buying this wine ever.

When you visit Bouchard is all about the Castel of Beaune! Going to Beaune without visiting this place is silly. The wines are classic but much better value if you want to buy a Pouilly Fuissé here that is a bottle shop in Beaune.

Our tour guide Christine made us feel welcomed and comfortable. So professional. My husband and I learned so much about The Bouchard wines and the wines of Bourgogne. She showed us the cellar and gardens. She was kind and really educated us on how the labels should be read and what to look for in a wine from this region.

Bouchard has enormous and prestigious acreage in Burgundy and they ship to the USA. The cellars were hidden from the nazis, so they were preserved and they include wine from nearly every year back to the 1840s.
