We were staying in the area and had set aside a day in Beaune as so many things to see and do. There was free parking which was close to the Tourist Centre, just around from the Hospice. We were able to get maps and a list of some of the different experiences on offer as well as tickets.
As it was a weekend there was a Market on with a huge array of foods and produce as well as an antique market on. It was amazing to walk around the city wall and watch the small river flowing out. Where we come from running water is seldom seen and was so refreshing and cool.
As we had the tickets to the Hospice and we had seen the roof with its yellow and black tiles so headed to the entrance and were straight in. We took a tour and were able to gain much understanding of what a significant concept this was back in the early history.
To see how people were treated and how the place was run, along with the tools and the knowledge of how the role changed with the passing of time made it a very rewarding visit. When we finished the tour we had free time to look around further and examine some items we had missed earlier.
The site is well preserved and cared for by locals and they have every right to be proud of what was undertaken and achieved.
A must if in the area.

They've taken great care in constructing and maintaining the buildings and museum.
You'll get a free audio recording with your entrance fee.
The walk through the building will take 30 to 60 minutes.
The entrance is just across from a visitor center.
Theres a shop just before the exit.

In this very small town of Beaune, this place is a highlight. You feel as if living in that era! The tour guide is so interesting, clear and lively. One can still feel the caring mission of the place. Don't miss it if you are in the area.

Great experience, visit with audio guide. A lot of languages available. Highly recommend this historical monument at the center of the burgundy region.

We visited this fine site on a day trip from Dijon. Not a long drive and parking is available. This site is well set up for visitors with guides available upon entry. In the center of town so there are places to eat all around including a covered market.

My wife and I came to visit the very nice Saturday market in Beaune when we came upon the Hospice of Beaune. It was an unexpected delight. So historic and uplifting when you see and hear the history behind this place. I highly recommend visiting with the family if you are in the greater Beaune area.

This was one of my must do's for Beaune and it did not disappoint. The architecture of the place is amazing and the history behind it's foundation was very interesting. A great way to spend and hour or so before heading off in search of wine tastings!

If in Beaune, you cannot miss a trip to the Cave des Hospices. Once a hospital, the story behind it is so interesting. We were with a group, and had a tour with a very knowledgeable staff member who gave us so much insight into the history. What I really appreciated was the fact that she was wearing a microphone and we all had an ear piece so even if I wandered off a few steps to take a closer look at something, I could still clearly hear what she was saying. I noticed many people who were not with a tour had audio guides and I think this is the way to go. You need to hear the story behind each room as you enter it. I would highly recommend visiting here.

We were just looking for a glass of wine. In the off season it is ok to bring your own food to the outdoor tables. We were a group of 5 and ordered 3 glasses. We got an extra, free taste of a 1985 Pommard too! Lots of older bottles to buy and not just from Burgundy... Not much (if any) food to order but they did serve potato chips. Might be able to get cheese and/charcuterie - we weren't hungry so didn't notice.

Has anyone had wine shipped from this shop?
I purchased some wines while in Beaune this summer and asked to have them shipped. More than 3moths now.
Can't seem to get in contact with them via phone or mail...
