The main reason to visit this museum is the 3D video of the Cathedral St Lazare sculptured portico by Romanesque sculptor Gislebertus. The soundtrack is in French but the fabulous close ups of the relief sculptures are extraordinary. A highlight is the row of saved...More

Be aware of this museum's hours, as they are only open for a short time in the morning before closing for lunch. This makes it very difficult to see the museum especially if you have limited time or arrive late in the morning. If you...More

We have now visited the Musee Rolin several times, both by ourselves and with visitors to France, and it is always a pleasure. It fully deserves its number 3 ranking on TripAdvisor and the entrance fee is very small (3.50 Euros, I think). Amongst the...More

Slightly confusing building layout but a wealth of treasures. Make sure you get to the tower rooms to see the early gothic statues and the reconstruction of the saint-lazare pilgrimage experience. Worth having it explained!

I went specifically for the Gallo- Roman exhibits and wasn't disappointed, but there's a lot more to be seen. It's surprisingly easy to spend much more time there than you expect to, so it's a good job there are toilets in the courtyard! Others have...More

The highlight of the museum is definitely the 3D film of the tympanum of the cathedral which allows you to see the detail stonework. It also houses some good Roman mosaics and mediaeval statuary, together with Renaissance and more recent paintings.

The highlights of the Musee Rolin was the Temptation of Eve which is bas relief showing Eve listening or whispering to Adam in a famously suggestive pose particularly for the 12th Century. The other activity not to be missed is the 3D documentary on the...More

This little gem of a museum is occupies a 16th century mansion. It has Gallo-Roman statuary, funeral stele and mosaics that are very impressive. If you have already visited the Cathedral of St Lazare, you will have seen the tympanum over the entrance that the...More

Much bigger than it looks from the outside, with a lot of interesting artefacts and a large variety of art, archeology, sculptures etc. Free for students (under a certain age, possibly 25, best to check!). Worth a visit if you're in the area
