We took a lovely walk over to Grand Be. Beautiful views, good footpath and not to busy (14-Sept-23 / afternoon). Defo worth a walk over, if the tides are low / out. If the tides are coming in be careful as you can get stuck (Emergency phone in place on the entry ramp footpath)

Although there is not much on the Grand Bé, it is still worth a visit if you are nearby. Standing on the Grand Bé gives the opportunity to see the city walls and out to sea from a different angle. Somewhere on the island, there is Tomb Chateaubriand which is also worth a visit if there is time.
The path to and from the island is only accessible at lower tide levels, so plan accordingly where possible to ensure that you can get both on and OFF the Grand Bé. After the tide had come over the path, we watched people wading through the water from the nearby rampart.

The lowering tide reveals the causeway to Le Grand Be for a nature walk around this small island. Offering a different view of the walled city and the chance to leave the hustle and bustle of the ramparts, City streets and packed beaches behind.

Amazing to see Chateaubriand’s tomb beautifully located looking out over the bay. Many destroyed bunkers on the island from WW2 and shell craters. Its a lovely view from the island, and dont get caught out by high tide, or you will have to wait until it recedes.

A modern hotel in the northern part of the walled city of Saint Malo.
Modern amenities, magnificent staff who go out of their way to make your visit comfortable.
Located close to the wall where you can start your experience and also close to all that Saint Malo offers.
