By walking on the outside walls you have a wonderfull view over the sea and the beach, and also on the “Grand Be” - great bay - which is a fortification of the ancient Corsairs and this located on a very small island very close to the fortifications of the ancient city of Saint Malo. It can only be accessed by walking over the beach when you have low tide when the sea recedes for some miles. Nice location with fantastic views.

Took a walk around the fort - fantastic views. It takes about an hour or so and you can walk up and down a variety of steps. Not for mobility impaired people.

We went to the fort kind of by accident. We walked across not realising there would be a guided tour. It was 6 euros per person and well worth it. The guide was very knowledgeable and seemed very into his subject. The tour lasted quite a while which is a surprise as the fort did not seem that big. My only concern is that the guide did not have an English translation. Once again all in French. I am bilingual so I understood but my girlfriend didn't. Not sure why the French don't realise English speaking people were everywhere. If you can understand French this trip is great. If not you will miss some important information/details.

It is easy to see why this spot was so important in Medieval times and later. Great views of the clear water, beaches, and the surrounding area! Take a look!
