Saw the tower from a distance and made our way towards it. Impressive tower and next to the Parc Thabor which is well worth walking around

One of the best things about this cathedral is it is located at one of the (many) entrances of Parc du Thabor. So, as a day of hanging out (or, just arriving) on one of the parks lawns or many places to sit and enjoy, it is a nice place to visit and settle. As I entered, I heard music. It was very fitting for a church. It was choir music. I initially thought I had entered during choir practice. It gave the place a certain feel. And, being how many churches are in Europe in general, this one had a special touch with music.

The stain glassed windows are nice. I find it interesting to just look at the different placement of things in churches. Having visited so many, I didn't see anything special or different. But, as some churches, cathedrals, abbeys in Europe I know it too has a story.

The doors close at 7pm. Since I entered later in the day I was able to spend some 'quiet time' (no one else in the church as I walked around). So, I had my "own moment." I lit a few candles and realized on my way out (as a few others were realizing as they entered) the cathedral was closing.

Nice if you can incorporate into a visit to Parc du Thabor.

It’s a really divine place, feeling the connection with Saint Melanie, and amazing energy. Worth to visit.

This is quite a big church with some interesting stained glass windows which are very pretty. the church is very sombre and dimly lit. Built in Breton style with very little decoration is a little on austere side. Some history of church available to view.

Walking up the cobbled way to St Melanie you appreciate the grandeur of the building. Inside its austere with soaring fluted granite columns and the hint of past glories. Remnants of frescoes are glimpses to the past...choral music echoes around the church. This is a deeply spiritual place and although lacking in physical grandeur it is worth the visit.

Some lovely stained glass windows. It was an abbey. The door to the left shows illustrations of the original buildings and grounds.

An interesting church in the centre of Rennes with some very good stained glass windows to study.A rare remnant of wall paintings demonstrate how this church was decorated in the past. Round the back are the remnants ofthe cloisters and an entrance into the wonderful Parc du Thabour.

Ste. Madeleine has a beautiful façade, large wooden entry doors, gorgeous stained glass windows that tell their own story and twin towers reaching towards the heavens...light a votive at the statue of "Lady of Rennes".

I don't know why I'm so impressed with every huge structures of any cathedrals or churches, even plain or great with differ in richness in history gives me an intuitive mind and ideas of how people are connected to faith and religious belief, this place is an Abbey with plain collections.
