300 year old ceramic workshop
Jun 2019 • Couples
We got the double ticket with the ceramic museum. Note: the workshop tour is live, not an audio guide, and only in French. Interesting to learn about the process. Shop is high-end (i.e., expensive). This is not a souvenir shop.

LOVE Quimper Faience
Oct 2014 • Friends
I have loved Quimper faience since I studied in Rennes in the early 70's. My favorite pattern is the traditional Henriot (with the man and woman). I try to pick up a piece every time I am in France. The Paris store has closed, so this time I went straight to the factory. It is expensive even here, but there is a huge selection. And you can order additional pieces if they don't have them on hand. I only bought a candlestick this time, so didn't need to use the shipping service, but, of course, they offer that as well. We didn't have time to tour the Museum of Pottery, but will try to get to it the next time.

Excellent visit!
Jun 2014 • Couples
We visited the French Manufacturer Henriot Quimper factory for 5 euros per person. This is a separate tour from the Museum (extra price to visit museum). There are 2 tours a day at 2:30 and 4 pm that last about 45 minutes. They allow a maximum 25 people per visit. The staff (only 26 for the entire factory) were excellent. They were very accommodating and refilled our water bottles twice with ice cold drinking water. Our guide presented the tour in French, and provided an English brochure but was also able to provide explanations and answer questions in English. She was very charming, knowledgeable and demonstrated each step of the process. Every piece the artisans create is made entirely by hand, from pouring the clay into a mold, the scraping/sanding of each piece, and the decorating/painting. Some pieces can be painted (without a pattern) in 15 minutes and others are large enough to take a week. The painting room was very quiet and calm and we observed 4 artists hand painting pieces. After touring the factory we visited the shop. The price of one admission to the factory is deducted from any purchase. If you pay for two admission tickets to the factory and wish to make two purchases, you must have the items rung up separately in order for both tour prices to be deducted. Public restrooms are available and there are several sets of stairs to climb for the tour. The factory was very interesting, nice and cool on a very warm day and about a 10 minute walk along the river banks from the Office de Tourisme or the Cathedral.
