Lovely to see an area not damaged during the war. Spectacular views of the city, impressive information inside and out.

This was a bit of a challenge climbing all the winding stairs, but very enjoyable. The exhibits in the various chambers were interesting, especially the armes exhibit. Also interesting to watch the jousters preparing themselves for the ride about town. Overall a good visit!

Very interesting, specially if you like to learn about the beginnings of France! Very close to all major historical sites.
Parking is messy and a little confusing to get there as a first time tourist, but it's worth it!

On the one hand we were lucky enough to visit on a holiday when entrance was free, however it was also very busy. This is a popular tour bus drop off location so early morning or late afternoon is best to visit. The castle it's self is a fun look at living space of the 13th century. Not sure I would pay to see it though, there is plenty of other fun free history in town.

A large chunk of this castle dates back to the 13th century. Start your Dinan visit here in the morning before it gets crowded. There is wonderful history and spiral staircases to climb and views to enjoy from the top. Be sure NOT to forget (as I almost did)) the crypt that is across the 13th century walkway to the smaller tower opposite the main castle. Go down the stairs and down and down and down and on the lowest level are some very old graves and a damp and wonderfully eerie environment. Loved it!

The best thing here is to go to the top of the keep for the views around the city, but then this can also be done from the Clock Tower!

Very well kept chateau/castle with lots of interesting rooms to visit. Great views from it too, and very reasonable to go in.
Well worth a visit

We walked the castle walls on a windy and not so pleasant day.
The views from the castle walls are wonderful, looking towards the beaches and the islands.

This is our first visit to Dinan and we decided to tour the Chateau early in the day before the rains decided to descend. We were intrigued by the story behind the Chateau and the many great rooms and spectacular view from the ramparts. The stairs are not for the meek or those who have concerns about narrow enclosures. All in all it was a worthwhile climb to the top. We are in our mid to late 60's and had no problem.

The museum exposition is simple and unassuming but this sightseeing is of another kind. Suddenly we spent about 2 hours and were impressed. It was great and funny to explore 2 huge donjons: to climb up and down spiral stairs, to get to the roof and have a wonderful view of Dinan, to get to the dungeon and find stone tombs, to ramble through medieval rooms and halls and to find medieval toilets. Some part of fortification is open to public so you can see what the rampart is made of.
The stairs are absolutely unaccessible to buggies.
