Southern European churches have more gold and colour, but Basilique St-Sauveur pre-dates that. You can sense the history, the generations that have prayed here over 900 years. Worth a visit to appreciate the passage of time and the short time we all have on this...More

Dinan's oldest church - parts dating back to 12th century. In a beautiful tree-lined square - pleasant cafés and an antiques market in summer (Wednesday). Fascinating 15th century stained glass to the left as you enter showing the patron saints of the medieval guilds that...More

While walking around Dinan we went into this rather splendid church. The stained glass windows are breathtakingly beautiful and the interior is impressive.

Truly a very old church, you can see the age on the inside where the supports holding up the organ have settled. Amazing ambiance and lovely English gardens behind the church.

Like many cathedrals in France, the Basilique San Sauveur is a wonderful piece of architecture and well worth a visit on your tour of Dinan.

Wonderful stained glass windows, pity the bells were not in unison as in England - very noisy when staying nearby, but that's French bells for you!

Yet again another free tourist attraction with great history and very good information boards in several languages.

I"m not sure why but I loved this church. It seemed more approachable and human scaled - architecture is interesting and varied. Good historical write up is available in English at the front door. A pretty square in front of the church for taking pictures.
