Well worth visiting the megaliths at Carnac...especially when the Info centre s open. It has a wonderful miniature of the entire region to be able to see all these amazing alignments. Still a mystery about why they are in straight =lines, about 2000 years earlier...More

If you're in the area, then you should see these stones but I found them somewhat underwhelming. The information / presentation is lacking though clearly they are important artifacts. However excellent Crepiere in the middle! The stones at Locmariaquer where more impressive,

Acres of standing stones, quite a sight, many pictures taken. Best seen on the road train on a 50 minute trip with a short break at the centre.

We wandered around the sites from end to end fascinated by the rows of stones and menhirs. Its worth during the summer going early in the day before the crowds and coaches arrived. It is only possible to walk between the stones during certain times...More

If you are in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit. Less known to foreign tourists, but relatively well known in France, this is a very impressive site, full of history. Apparently during low season you get free access to all the stones,...More

Carnac is one of the most sacred place in human prehistory and has an inmense historical and cultural value. Sadly, for tourists, it's only a 4 Km walk of stones. I greatly enjoyed cycling and walking the whole area, but local traffic and the unfriendly...More

Of course, this is a must in Carnac. But you should not spend more than 45 minutes in the fields and the visitor center. When you see it, there is nothing more to see. And please, get that little train for tourists out of the way!

One of the largest alignments I have seen. The stones are beautifully preserved and they extend quite some distance. The area seems to have strong mythological links with the Uk and the Merlin stories

It is true you have to pay to walk among the stone. You can see them from the parking lot also (for free). There are guided walking tours about every 20 minutes, I would think they are in English on request. When I was there... More

Yes, it is true that everything has been fenced off. Probably necessary in order to protect the vegetation. So you cannot actually touch the menhirs. But when you walk along the fences, you can see everything, the alignments... More
