Great Saturday Farmer's style market in a very beautiful city. The market is spread out around the town center. There was entertainment and really nice local produce along with cheese, meats and other items. We highly recommend a trip to the market if you are in Perigueux on a Saturday.

Wonderful quality & variety of fruit, vegetables, spices, herbs, plants, poultry over a wide area of the town center. Great atmosphere in a friendly environment. Bars & coffee shops surround the market which is perfect for people-watching. Must be visited.

This is a brilliant market, full of locals, not tourists. Helpful stall-holders, fabulous selection of vegetables, fruits and cheeses.

Excellent indoors meat market as part of market. Outstanding quality which is worth the prices.

A real treat! Thoroughly recommended.

One of our favourite french markets - colourful and busy, which we always enjoy.

A great range of goods with comprehensive food and veg as well as a covered meat market.

In addition there are many boutique shops in the narrow side streets.

All in all a very pleasant way to spend a morning.

There are a number of decent cafe's from which to watch the world go buy and drink un cafe with the locals.

Perigueux itself has a beautiful historic centre well worth the visit just to admire the architecture

A nice food market with plenty of local and organic products. Less touristy than the Sarlat one. In front of the cathedral.

What a large quality market. I would recommend this above any other in the area. The largest segment is around the Cathedral buy there are other segments in several of the nearby plaza's tht are in the old town. The offerings were of extremely high quality compared to other markets. Combine this with high quality local shops, cleanliness and the beautiful buildings in the old town. Perfect. We also stopped and had 6 oysters(vendor just outside the covered market) for 3.75E delivered to a table at an adjacent outdoor cafe with a wine and coffee from them for another 4E. Perfect

Plenty of parking although you might have to pay 3E for 3 hours or so if you do not get lucky and find a free one near the river.

We're big fans of French town markets, but, WOW! This one is phenomenal, there is such a brilliant range of...well, you name it..cheese, bread, honey, wine, truffles, vegetables, meats, I could go on. Not to mention the clothes, jewellry, bags etc. etc. etc. It fills the city centre and doen't seem to end - fantastic

We absolutely loved the Périgueux market on a Saturday morning ( it‘s also held on Wednesdays). Large parts of the old town, especially around the Cathedral, are filled with stalls selling all the food specialties of Perigord - foie gras, duck specialties, sausages, cheeses, nuts, wine, fruit and vegetables galore - it‘s like a paean to the fruits of the earth. The market starts closing up around one p.m. We walked around for a long while, then went to look at Périgueux itself (a beautiful old town), then returned to the market, sat and had a coffee. A wonderful, relaxing way to spend a Saturday morning.

When you want to try all produce of Dordogne, this is the place to go. Local bread, olives, cheeses, fruit, veg. You can meet locals and listed to a barrel organ performance.

We in fact were in this market on a Wednesday morning not a Saturday. It takes place in several different squares in the old part of the town. The food market is very good... wonderful, fruit & veg and fish. The speciality of the area is duck & fois gras. Some of the small shops adjoining the market are superb.
The clothed market which was in 2 separate squares was nothing like as good as the markets which I often go to in Provence. The second market was a pretty basic “flea” market selling second hand clothes.
