7 of us went today for our first paddle boarding trip today. It was great fun and we were out nearly the whole hour and was well worth the money. There was lots of activities available and we will be back to do some. We were looked after by Scottish gentleman who was really friendly and helpful

We had a canoe trip but missed the last exit, ending up at AVCK. Not speaking French that well they arranged for my safe return to St. Leon. While waiting they gave us some towels and ice cream for the children. This was (far) beyond our expectations. Thank you for making us feel welcome and helping us in this situation. Our 'adventure' had a happy ending because of you. THX !!!

We had three amazing journeys with avck ! (Tursac , la roque saint Christophe and St-Leon sur Vézère) The staff is amazing and really kind with you, even when you’re sometimes late. The transport was nice, so as the canoes !
It’s also really nice to have a snack near the water after !😉
A big thank to Robert who was our chauffeur two times out of three, it was really nice to talk to you and, my dog really appreciated you lol 🐕.
And also thanks to the (ear tattooed) guy (sorry I don’t know your name 😬) for my phone that my mom had forgotten in the canoe !
(Yup we’re french but I’m writing in English so it can reach more people)

Not to be confused with Canoës Vallée Vézère which is on the otherside of the river, AVCK is a small canoe / kayak company that we booked with through and during our stay at St Avit Loisirs (booked originally through Eurocamp).
The staff mostly spoke good english and went through instructions and safety demonstrations slowly and methodically. We took out two canoes. Wife and 12 year old in one and me with a 6 year old and 9 year old, none of whom had any experience.
We opted for a 2 hour / 10km trip down the river Vézère. Once we were kitted up, the minibus took us up river to Tursac with a watertight container for food, drinks, mobiles and keys, and we leisurely paddled down stream passing various sites including La Madeleine, Chateau de Marsac and Le Bout de Monde (end of the world). They gave us a handy waterproof guide of what to look out for on the river (sights and birds etc) which gave our 6 year old daughter something to do when she got tired.
There was no time limit and you could stop and start at your own pace.
Would really recommend these guys as they were very good at calming any nerves and gave really clear instructions on what to do and where to go. And the kids really enjoyed it! Very reasonably priced at 15euros for the adults and kids at half price. Plus we got a 10% discount as it was booked through our campsite!

I recently used this company to go canoeing when visiting Les Eyzies and I have to say they were marvellous. From the booking process to being supplied with equipment, nothing was too difficult for the very helpful and very friendly staff (they even helped me find the name and directions to the next tourist attraction I wanted to visit)!
Travelling along the vézére river is breathtakingly beautiful and something you must do if you are visiting the Dordogne region. We were complete novices canoeing with a 7 year old and apart from a few communication issues between the captain and his crew at the beginning we had a wonderful time. Make sure you wear your swimwear as a dip somewhere along the river is a must. The water was so cool (which was refreshing after all the hard work) and clear and my 7 year old loved looking at all the fish swimming around our toes. They give you water proof barrels to put all your belongings in so pack plenty of water but if you want to feel French then pack a picnic too and when you stop for a swim you can sit on the bank and enjoy the view with a nice baguette or two.
We started at Tursac which is 10km from Les Eyzies and the 2 hours canoeing was more than enough to enjoy the river and still survive the workout. Our only minor criticism was that our instructor at our drop off point didn't speak English but with my limited French and lots of arm movements we worked it out. At the meeting point they give you an instruction book which is in English and French and if I was doing this again I would ask one of the English speaking staff there to walk me through the "how to's" of canoeing.
All in all this was a wonderful experience with my family and if you are going to go canoeing then I would highly recommend that you use this company too!

We have kayaked and canoed in the area before, on the Dordogne. We chose a different river this time, and this company based on their clear information brochure. We arrived after the advertised bus time, but we were accommodated immediately instead of having to wait almost an hour for the next scheduled bus. The staff were very friendly, much more pleasant than other companies in the area. The equipment and the vans/busses were very clean. The information booklet for use during the trip was a great addition. The river was quiet and peaceful for us, in spite of being a Saturday.

The Vezere is really calm & serene as a trip down the river. The 19 km (from St Leon sur Vezere) descent took us about 5 hours, as we stopped off a couple of times to have a break from paddling and to enjoy our picnic. There aren't as many sites/castles to see as on the Dordogne, but there are a lot less people and for a good part of it, there was just the 4 of us in sight. You still see La Roque St Christophe and la Madeline, both of which are stunning from the river. Highly recommended!

Most of the canoe outfitters have shut down by mid-September. We did the 25 km trip from Chateau de Losse. It was spectacular. The best part of the scenery was actually near the start -- the chateaux overhanging the river are stunning. The river moves lazily along. It is an easy paddle. (We are experienced canoeists, which makes a difference, I'm sure).
I would recommend this outfitter: they were prompt, provided good equipment, and were helpful. If you haven't canoed before, I would make sure you ask them for a lesson in paddling, and in avoiding shallows. There are a few shallow spots with swift current along the way, so knowing how to stick with the main stream was helpful.

We have kayaked with several other companies but this one was definitely a step up from the rest in terms of organisation. We chose them for three reasons; our campsite gave us a reduction, we were taken by bus to our start point so there was no time limit to complete the journey in and previous reviews. It was nice that there was no charge for the waterproof container which we've had to pay for in previous years and that they gave you a waterproof book to help you spot things along the way and suggested lunch breaks. We were worried the trip might be a bit boring compared to the Ardeche and the Dordogne, but we certainly weren't bored. There are beautiful rock formations to kayak under and the peacefulness is wonderful. It's nowhere near as busy as other rivers and it's shallow for the most part. As previous reviews have said you do have to paddle all the way so of you're not sure it's probably safer to attempt a shorter journey. We completed the 19km one in 4 hours at a steady speed with several stops. We would definitely do again.

My husband and I have done a lot of canoeing on the dordogne and experienced a number of the canoeing companies on the river all of which have been fine/acceptable but we decided this holiday to canoe on the vezere- a tributary of the dordogne. We could not have picked a better company to go with. The friendly greeting smiling faces meant our experience started very well it got better from there with what my husband and I felt was exceptional organization in all areas. It also helped their English was so good and we felt right at home. They made sure we knew what we were doing and that we were happy. In our opinion the company stands head and shoulders above the others we have experienced.

Hello , we will be visiting in later May. So many visitors canoed during the summer and refer to going swimming. There is never any guarantee on good weather, but would May 25-28 be a suitable time to canoe if one does not plan on going swiming? Thank you.

Bonjour,
