Put on your walking shoes and take the challenge of going up all the stairs in one haul. Do not forget to bring your camera for the end. Lots of day tourists never make it up to the top for the views.

A truly "epic" place. Sitting on the side of a cliff with winding stairs, you can look down on the raw Atlantic ocean in all its glory. I saw it at a very windy time, where it was not particularly welcoming. The waves were massive, and the wind blew the chop everywhere. Nonetheless it was beautiful and completely amazing. Will be back.

We had a one night stopover and explored Biarritz a little during the day, it is a charming, upmarket seaside resort with ample restaurants, hotels and views.

The sewage system can not handle the tourist crowds. When it rains the sewage system is unable to handle sewage and rainwater and the sewage is emptied out on Le Grand Plage! Due to the high levels of bacterial pollution bathing is often forbidden. Go else where! If I had known this before coming here I would have made other plans for a beach vacation!!

One of my favorites spots in France, the Basque country has amazing food, a friendly and welcoming culture and of course beauitiful nature. The beaches are famous for the surf spots and you can get the best of both worlds from luxury pampering to backpack adventure.

Lets b clear. I like the beach. I live there. But travellers award and all that stuff? Waves arent as good as in hossegor or anglet, a few km north, if you wanna surf.
Beach is only possible at low tide, prefer the milady beach, as beautiful, 1 km south if u wanna relax more than a few hours.
Well, i dont really recommend tourists to go to the cote des basques, but south or north youll find amazing beaches, depending on what u want!

My favorites are the Milady and Marbella. The rest are so beautiful but not as beautiful and as these two.
The sand is so soft, the water is so clean and the area is so large it cannot get crowded.
Defiantly an all time favorite spot that carries lots of memories that will sure last till my 90s if I ever reached that.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit. Very interesting walkway along the rocky coast. Beautiful views. Fabulous for photography.
The tides here are unexpectedly large. Allow some very unusual transformations

Whilst the area around Biarritz is rather enchanting, I cannot generally say the sans about the town. It's covered in graffiti, rather dirty and danegerous.

If you see Biarritz you'll never forget it, you'll remember it for ever in your life, no metter how many other places you'll visit in the rest of your life Biarritz and the Cote des Basque always call you back.
Fantatisc beach with amazing waves the dream of all the surfers, amazing town to visit and a great atmosphere.
A lot of good restaurant and the beach just one step from the city center do the rest.
I visited Biarritz several times and I'll be back soon, you own me.
I suggest you to go the Plage de les Cavaliers, just a couple of minute out of the town next to Anglet, amazing place.

I have two free days before I have to be in Paris , I will be in San Sebastián . Where would you prefer as a stop between SS and Paris ? La Cote des Basques or Bordeaux? This is in August

We have just been one week in Bordeaux and one week in Biarritz. If You have been in San Sebastian i will strongly recommend Bordeaux. In 1 or 2 days You might come around at most attractions in the city centre just by walking. Visit Place de la Bourse, Porte Cailhau, Pey-Berland Tower, St. Andre Cathédrale and perhaps La Cite du Vin (if You are interested in Wine). Then You also will see Le Pont Jacques Chaban Delmas; the new modern bridge in Bordeaux. You might also go for a walk in the famous shopping street: Rue Ste Catherine. At night I will suggest to eat italian food at Osteria Pizzeria Da Bartolo, or crêpes at Nom d’Une Crepe. Have a nice trip!

Hello
Drive towards the lighthouse and you will find lots of free parking along the street. From there you can walk along the coast towards Biarritz. Don’t walk along the beach from the lighthouse if the tide is in as you won’t get past the headland.
Follow signs for the Churchill Way, signs are on the pathways, and this takes you on a path by the beach and takes in the tourist sights. Walk up to and around the main headland where the sea life centre and harbour are along the coast and then take the winding path up through the landscaped gardens into the old town. Quite a walk but lots to see and you should also see lots of people surfing in the sea.
Whilst in the area try Bayonne just a few minutes drive inlland. Beautiful old town and plenty of car parks around the town.

Hello. Can somebody tell me if you can swim here? How is the water in August? I don't like cold water, is it really cold? What about inside the water. Are there stones or sand. Thank you very much.

Hi
I was here 3 weeks ago. Locals were swimming in. 15C water. Or surfers in surf suites. It should definitely be warmer in August. In big, open beaches there are big waves (surfers' paradise), but amongst the many hidden little beaches all along the coast, you'll find calm waters (e.g. like the beach of St jean de Luz). Hope I was of some help.
Regards

Is it possible to travel to Biarritz from Bordeaux by public transport? How long does the trip take? Is it worth doing in May, 2017? Any other suggestions for day trips from Bordeaux are welcome. We will not have a car.

Yes, it's possible by train which takes about two hours. It really depends on what you're looking for but Biarritz os beautiful and small. There are nice walks by the cliffs. And of course dinner at Bar Jean. I haven't been there in May but i am sure it's okay. Check the tourism bureau of Biarritz for activities during May; they have all of be info.

Hello,
I cannot answer this for certain for I don't snorkel. I guess there may be some good diving spots on the coastal cliffs. The water is relatively clean but cold - at least for a brazilian like me. Enjoy your trip there 'cause it is a nice little beach city well worth it.
