This was our second time with JP, the first 7 years ago. We hired him for 3 full days. We gave him a list of desired wineries but with harvest happening it was hard to see all. We were not disappointed at all, and even used one day to visit Archachon. This was well worth it! We ate oysters at an cabanes, then drove to a beautiful hotel, La Coorniche, for a magnificent lunch with a view of the bay, ocean and nearby dunes. Amazing!
We also spent a day each in St. Emilion and the Medoc areas. We visited 2 wineries each with a stellar lunch in between. We invited JP to join us at our expense for lunch each time. He is a great conversationalist and loves the opportunity for a hardy discussion. We are already talking about our next trip!
Logistics note: We stayed in Bordeaux city, rented a car
and met JP each day. This was ok going to the south and east, but rush hour traffic around the city is horrible, especially going north towards the Medoc. We would rethink this next time and perhaps stay outside the city for a few nights. Drivers are just not available like in Napa. This was our choice completely as we like the city of Bordeaux.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with John Pierre again. It had been too long. We recommend his service with the highest regards.

Jean Pierre is the ultimate host and guide
We had a great day on the left bank and another on the right.
He selects excellent chateaus and restaurants for lunch. The timing of the tasting and hosts from the winery treated us very well and in part due to JP's good relationships with him. Cos d' Estournel, Chateau Pavie, Lynch Bages and others were great. St Emillion lunch was a real treat too. This was my second Bordeaux experience with JP.

We (my wife and I) went with Jean Pierre on 2 fantastic days of wine tasting adventures - the first day on the right bank, in St. Emilion and Pomerol, and the second day on the left bank in the Medoc region. We saw 6 wineries altogether over both days. We met a lot of very interesting and unique people visiting the wineries, it was clear that Jean Pierre has good relationships with the winemakers and is personally committed to giving his clients a great experience.
This was our first trip to Bordeaux and we wanted to really experience the wines and wineries of the area. We were very interested to learn about the different wines and the subtleties and nuances of the appellations. Jean Pierre helped us really get a deep understanding of all of this, and it was a lot of fun driving through some truly beautiful parts of France with him.
We have had a number of wine tasting tours over the years, but Jean Pierre is definitely in a league of his own. He has an incredible knowledge of the region, the history, the classification systems, the annual vintages and the wineries - in some cases he seems to know more than even the winemakers themselves! Jean Pierre was an EXCELLENT guide and companion for our trips. He gave us a lot of really interesting background, was very friendly and took genuine interest in us and our experience. He picked wineries that were both good representations of the regions, but also unique and interesting. We did not find ourselves visiting the wineries alongside large groups - so it always felt like we were being given a personal tour at each winery. We really enjoyed the places Jean Pierre selected and know from our conversation that there is still far more to see and experience.
I highly recommend taking a tour with Jean Pierre. We will absolutely call him when we visit Bordeaux again.
Some details: Jean Pierre picked us up at our apartment, he was very punctual. He was also very responsive when we arranged the tours. He arranged all the visits and lunch each day at local restaurants, and kept us on a good schedule. What he promised, he delivered!
Thank you again for a wonderful 2 days of wine tasting Jean Pierre! We hope to see you again very soon.

We were in Bordeaux a few days for a vacation in the New Years period. I contacted many tour operators but everybody told me that many chateaux would be closed in that period and that I should reschedule my trip.Fortunately I emailed Jean Pierre! He was the only one to organize one day trip in Saint Emilion and one in Medoc and we were also able to end our tours by having a private visit at Château Lafite-Rotchild!!! I am an Italian sommelier and professional and I highly recommend Jean Pierre as a guide. His knowledge of the wine and the territory is outstanding. We had a great time with him and all the visits were great. I would call him again should I be back in Bordeaux! Thank you!!!

Our day with Jean-Pierre was simply amazing and the highlight of our trip to France.
Having done wine tours in various regions in the United States, Italy and Canada, we do have to say that our Saint-Émilion tour with Jean-Pierre takes the cake as our best tour to date.
Jean-Pierre has an incredible understanding of Bordeaux wines, the Bordeaux region and winemaking. It was clear that Jean-Pierre takes his job seriously, but has a great personality that complements his expertise. Truth be told, I was a bit hesitant to do the Saint-Émilion tour as I have always been partial to Napa cabs and thought that Saint-Émilion wines would not be as suited for me given the dominant Merlot grape – boy was I wrong.
Our day started at a wonderful family owned winery which had just began its harvest two days prior. We were able to taste some grape juice that had yet to ferment as the grapes were just harvested. How cool is that? The winery had very good wines and we were even able to purchase a 1990 vintage.
Following the initial winery, Jean-Pierre treated us tour a tour of the Saint-Émilion/Pomerol region. It was extremely informative but not over-bearing. It was a great balance.
Following the tour of the region, Jean-Pierre made a reservation for the two of us at a restaurant in Saint-Émilion. The food at the restaurant was our favourite French food that we ate on the entire trip. It was so delicious.
Following lunch and a walk around the town, we headed to a beautiful château and even got to meet the owner. Our tour at this château was memorable as the property was beautiful, the tasting was delicious and the guide was well informed.
Following this, was the ultimate highlight of our day/trip as Jean-Pierre took us to a château where we enjoyed some of the best wine that we have ever had (yes, ever). At this last château, we had our best-ever tasting experience tasting several different vintages. The wine was amazing, the individual at the château guiding our tasting was amazing and we laughed a lot and drank a healthy amount. It was incredible! Actually, it was even better than that. We ended up sending some wine home and we seriously cannot wait to receive it.
Jean-Pierre is clearly well respected in the region. We felt spoiled everywhere we went as the service that we received at the different châteaus was something else. We are so happy and thankful that we were able to explore the region with Jean-Pierre.
We look forward to visiting the Bordeaux region again and will definitely use Jean-Pierre for our next tour(s) in the region! We can’t wait!

We did a tour of the St Emilion region with Jean Pierre today and had a wonderful time! Jean Pierre organized everything for us on very short notice and made the whole day easy and enjoyable. We went to three different Chateaus - all very different as well as a beautiful lunch in the town of St Emilion which again Jean Pierre organized. It is a one day tour but Jean Pierre packs as much in as possible!
In terms of wine, you would struggle to find someone who knows as much about Bordeaux wine and the region as Jean Pierre! He answered all our questions and more and gave us a tonne of knowledge about Bordeaux as well as taking us to excellent Chateaus with amazing wine which is what we were after.
We can’t recommend him highly enough and can’t wait to come back and do Medoc with him in the future. Thanks Jean Pierre! Gab and Alex

Jean-Pierre is the consummate professional, an excellent tour guide, teacher and a great travel companion. Our group of 4 had various levels of wine knowledge and yet Jean-Pierre was able to keep all of us engaged throughout the day. Many of the chateaux in Bordeaux were closed for the All Saints French holiday and Jean-Pierre spent an enormous amount of time prior to our visit researching and confirming chateaux in the Medoc (at our request) which were open for private tours. The ones he chose were all unique in their own right. In addition to our learning about the Bordeaux region and, in particular, the wines of the Medoc, Jean-Pierre organized a magnificent lunch at a local, well-reputed restaurant that was both delicious and fun (the chef is a real character!). Jean-Pierre makes conversation easily, has a superb command of the English language and is a wonderfully interesting man himself. Cannot recommend Jean-Pierre enough!

I first did a wine tour with Jean Pierre several years ago. We had so much fun that I checked in with him again for a recent trip to Bordeaux.
Trust him for great wine tasting and food recommendations. He knows the people and places you’ll want to go, and will make sure that your experience is the absolute best. We also did a scenic tour of Arcachon and he recommended a wonderful lunch stop. If you’re looking for a guide in the Bordeaux region, he’s the one!

We had a private wine tour with Jean Pierre in the Medoc region of Bordeaux. Jean Pierre is VERY knowledgable about wines and a fun guy - we felt like we had known him for quite some time even though we had just met him! He made all the plans for us after an email exchange and took us to 3 wonderful wineries, all very different and unique from each other. One was very modern, one very traditional, and they all had different ways of processing their wines. Each tour was unique and interesting. Best of all, the wines were delicious at all 3 wineries! He picked us up promptly at our designated spot and drove us to all these places including a stop for lunch at a restaurant that was superb. At the end of our tour, he dropped us off at our hotels. We highly recommend Jean Pierre to anyone considering a wine tour of the Bordeaux region.
