Place Gambetta has access the the Petit Park across the street that is really beautiful...looks like a Monet painting, with a little lagoon, a variety of colorful flowers and a couple of little bridges. Also, walk along the pedestrian street to some of the high end boutiques towards the centre. Some side streets as well. Nice area to explore.

Small urban park, located close to a major transportation hub, and a short walk from Cathedral Saint Andre. This site was the home to the guillotine during the French Revolution, but in this day and age, just a bit of green in an otherwise urban jungle.

Do not expect that you could park your car in the center of Bordeaux. It took me around 40 minutes to find a parking place. I recommend you to go to the city center by tram. On top of that do not expect you find any written information in English. Place Gambeta is a spot You can find a nice little park to relax during your walk in historic part of Bordeaux.

Absolutely beautiful city, filled with quaint French Gothic architecture and wonderful shops. The people are warm and were welcoming to us American tourists. The streets were impeccably clean and the (minor) road construction was minimal and did not interfere with our ability to explore the city. We were there to begin our journey on The Camino De Santiago and needed to pick~up our credentials for the walk. We were happy that the stumbling stones (a European catch-phrase) had the Camino marked and was easy to follow. We were surprised that many locals did not know of the Camino, AKA; The way of St. James. So the stumbling stones were an important clue to follow. It eventually led us to the hospitality center of the Camino.

Bordeaux is a beautiful city on the Garonne river in the west of France. It is an easy city to walk around and take in the sights. The Place de Bourse is the featured piece de resistance located on the river, however there are many other beautiful places to see. Many museums, quaint little restaurants tucked away in wonderful areas of city center, coffee shops and Rue St. Catherine for any of your shopping delights!

You can ignore this review after a while but for now, it is valid. Our hotel was very near so we passed from this area every day. There is heavy construction going on in this area and it isn’t possible to see the nice park.

Although Virgin Megastore is here and open on Sunday, the park in the middle of the road is a lovely place to sit and while away some time, eating lunch and watching the world go by.

Now an "English garden," with serpentine paths and a pink theme in June, this square was part of the Marquis de Tourny's urban renewal plan in 1770, just in time to become the city's guillotine site during the Reign of Terror. Later renamed for politician Leon Gambetta, a native of the South West who Made Good in Paris as a government minister during the Franco Prussian War. (If this sounds familiar, there is a Pl. Gambetta in Paris and others elsewhere in France.) It is at the angle where Cours Clemenceau and Cours de l'Intendance meet, two of the three streets forming the "Golden Triangle" boutique shopping district. It is also a major bus node. Driving or walking by may be inevitable. Porte Dijeaux is here, too, to lead you into the historic core of the city.

My husband is convinced that all French girls are beauties. He did his research as we sipped some Bordeaux and decompressed. This square borders the exquisitely preserved tourist area and another, more authentic-feeling spot. We did take the bus from the airport to this place for 1.4 Euros, and walked to our hotel from there.
