Enormous plaza on the edge of the old town. Paved with pea gravel. There are some elegant tree lined lanes on either side, as well as easy access to the tram. Check out the view of the river and the monument to the Girondins.

This is a good meeting place or a place to leave the train and enjoy an afternoon walk. Several times during the year they have an amusement area set up nearby for the children.

This is a large area of chalky gravel, nothing special at all. The monuments at the top and bottom of the square are really good and worth seeing but the square itself is to be honest a big let down - nothing there at all and a bit scruffy. This square only comes to life when it is being used... More

This is a very big square. A funfair was setting up there all week when we visited. The real attraction of this place is that it is where all the bus and tram lines meet. The trams are excellent. The square, not so much.

Its a beautiful open area to walk around, jog or spend a relaxed evening. Beautiful restaurants & bars dot the area around this place in case you like to drop by.

An historical site and a beautiful monument. Former site of a military installation repurposed to a public square. Worth a visit

The Esplanade de Quinconces is a square of many trees in perfect rows, next to the Place de Quinconces. Often just the transit hub between Tram Lines B and C, do take a moment to look at the simple yet pleasant effect of the trees.

Bordeaux has a rich history of invasions, resistance and revival of it as a republic. The square is very much part of this history. We had two beautiful days in the city and traversed this square a few times, even sat there and had snacks and coffee waiting for our tours to start from there.

Its just a nice monument and worth a visit and a few photos if you are in Bordeaux. One side has the triumph of the republic with lies, vice and ignorance in the water at the bottom. The other side is the triumph of concord at the base this time is happiness.

Thank Steph7nie
