A sterling example of a Gothic Cathedral perhaps the template for hundreds of similar Cathedrals around Europe.

This museum is inside the Mohan palace and is fairly large display of archeology artifacts and displays dating back to prehistoric times through to iron age and to the middle ages. There are free leaflets in English available to help you pick out the highlights. Good museum showing many many archeology items. Toilets on site.

We bought a day ticket for €12 per adult and this was the first of the city museums we visited. Although some of the displays were a bit dated, I thought that this was in some ways something of a plus - it didn't distract from the exhibits. It covered everything from the stone age to the middle ages, with... More

The audio guide here doesn't work very well and having to put the location numbers each time is tiresome especially when a lot of them don't actually work. Otherwise it was an interesting museum with plenty of exhibits.

The presentation could indeed be better and more interesting, but the collection is absolutely fascinating! Would recommend to anyone into Prehistoric and Roman history.

The collection of archeological material was extensive and the explanatory notes were helpful. However, the presentation of the material could be improved with the use of more audio-visual aids and better locational maps.

Amazing founds uit of the Roman age; a real Roman sword, statues of the Roman Gods, funeral tombs; also great prehistoric and Celtic stuff. Definitely worth a visit.

The majority of the commentary is in French, but there is a brochure available in English which provides visitors with the highlights of the collection. The Chariot for travelling through the world of the dead and the funeral headstone of a farming couple were of particular interest to me. The collection has examples of Artifacts ranging from the Palaeolithic, through... More

Visited on the Palais Rohan combo ticket. I enjoy history and artifacts but I found this museum to be pretty dry. Nothing about the exhibits pulled me in and a lot of the objects (pots, stoneware, glasses, etc.) were rather mundane. There were several larger artifacts consisting of surviving fragments, such as a room with a Roman Era mural, but such... More

I can recommend this museum as it gives the visitor a wonderful overview of Alsatian history, from the prehistoric time to the dawn of the Middle Ages. It's so nicely and attractively organized that I think it would even be interesting for school children. The informative summaries in the exhibition rooms are in English, which is nice. I especially liked... More
