traveled to Lyon by Eurostar and TGV, and picked up the cruise vessel Swiss Corona. Very well appointed boat, and well looked after by the crew. Next day after a trip to the Basillica and the old town we departed along the Saone to Challon, then wound our way back through Lyon, onto the Rhone and down as far as... More

Just ending our 9 day Avalon Waterways River Cruise on the Ship "Affinity." This was the second time using this company and all has been wonderful. The 100 all adult international passenger guests were provided outstanding service compatible to their needs. The chef prepared daily gourmet meals were delicious. Relaxing in the library or club room was a nice alternative... More

I am currently cruising on a Viking River boat cruise down the Rhone. This is the fifth day of a seven day cruise. So far, we have actually spent 2 hours cruising the river and that was at 5:00am. I was told to pack my bags in order for Viking to change ships and am currently being bussed around 40... More

Burgundy, the River Rhone & Provence - MS Countess 16/2/2016 A disaster. Rhone was dangerously high and very fast flowing with logs and trees as an added hazard. Of course this was not Riviera Travel fault, but the river had been closed to passenger cruises for three days before we arrived!! The cruise should have been cancelled before we left... More

If you are anticipating gently cruising through pretty country side, vin yards and villages thing again. There is not much actual cruising. To get to the promised places you take a coach from the boast. Meanwhile, sometimes your boat moves on and you catch it up at the next port of call. When you are cruising there is not a... More

We wanted to offer a considered review of a Riviera Travel Holiday on the Rhone River Cruise, on MS Countess. Consequently this may be a somewhat long piece, for which I apologise. Our cruise dates were affected by both the widespread flooding across France and by the French workers’ strikes, which delayed the Eurostar crossing of some of our fellow... More

This was the first river cruise for my wife and me. Given the expensive booking fee we understandably had high expectations. The entire staff on the boat from the Program Director to the Maitre d' to the Concierge was excellent, exceedingly engaging and accommodating. Our Program Director, Oliver, had unbounded energy, moving from one tour excursion to another. He provided... More

We chose the 8 day Viking Rhone River cruise from Avignon to Lyon. Everything was fabulous but the on board staff just put the sparkle on top. We boarded the boat in Avignon. The weather was perfect and we were shown to our stateroom in the 3rd floor with our own balcony. The room was snug but comfortable. The bathroom... More

I'm not certain if this is the right forum for this review. We booked the Rhone River cruise because we wanted to stay in France for our vacation. I did my research and found Viking checked all the boxes. We were looked after the whole time. We enjoyed having the balcony area on the longship Buri. The food was wonderful.... More

This was our first River Cruise with this Organisation but not our first Riviera Holiday. We traveled to Lyon by Eurostar and TGV and were worried about how a large group would cope with getting on and off these trains with their luggage as we have had similar problems with other organisations on rail holidays, But Riviera with their usual...
