    Just a wonderful pub
The Peveril is everything a pub should be. As you approach it you savour the beautiful tiling on the outside. As you enter you wonder at the beautiful leaded glass around the bar and the doorways. I’m not a Mancunian and I haven’t visited the pub in 10 years. If I were a Mancunian it would be my local. The atmosphere in the bar is just as it should be. Buzzy and chatty without being too noisy. Great selection of well kept beers at prices that don’t make you gasp and friendly bar staff. When you sit down you sit in a room where people feel comfortable enough to just sit and read a book or to chat to each other or to you. I went in on my own and within a few minutes had had conversations about the local canals, about the cricket, Jimmy Anderson, Eric Cantona and the Gallagher brothers. Add to that a great juke box and the quirky table football table in the bar, some fascinating photos and, for me, you have just about the perfect pub. Best wishes to the Peveril. Continue to thrive. Cracking little boozer. Oozes character.
Just a quick stop for a couple of pints. Bar staff friendly and informative about the range of beers and history of the pub. A really nice atmosphere with bags of character. The loos could so with a few quid spent on them but it wouldn't stop us returning if we happen to be passing through again.

Well worth a visit , friendly staff
Popped in at opening time ( 12) there was about 20 other waiting for the doors to open as well. Real old style pub, bar at front and lounge with fire at rear. Stained glass above bar. Well worth a pop in if you are passing . Stayed about 30 mins and headed off into the city. Stunning tiles on the outside , great staff.

I live close to this pub and visit occasionally.
About six weeks ago I went in there and there wasn't a lot of people in but the guy behind the bar was stood in the middle tapping into his mobile phone.

He looked at me and continued doing what he was doing. I gave him some slack and waited for him to do what he was doing. A group of people came into the bar and the barman continued tapping into his phone! So I left vowing never to go in there again.

However, I have history with this pub, everyone does, so today I gave it another chance!

It was quite busy, but there was only two bar staff on, one was serving, the other was talking to customers, I stood there for a short while at the bar and the talking bar man came out from behind the bar and began giving the customer he was talking to a neck massage! Again, I waited whilst he did this for around a minute and there was no stopping him! I then asked him if he worked in the bar and he replied "Yes I do" and continued massaging his customers neck! I asked if he could get me a beer and he looked at me with contempt.
Never, will I go in The Peveril of the Peak, Manchester again.

I wasn’t struck by the quality of the Customer Service. My server could not even bring themselves to catch my glance at any point during the transaction. I felt the server was only going through the motions and didn’t make me feel wanted. Although it’s a nice old fashion bar inside and out the poor quality Customer Service was the thing that is stuck with me most.

absolute rubbish, i was given a Scottish £10 in my change by a barmaid, 20 minutes later when i went to pay for another drink with the same note, she refused to accept it, then she called another member of staff over who also refused to accept it ! Scottish notes are legal tender, especially when they,ve been given to me in change !!! avoid this place, clueless staff !!

Visited here whilst up in Manchester for the weekend, as we'd heard good things. This is a proper unspoilt British pub, full of character. It's always good to see some of these old city boozers still thriving, amongst new building developments. The Brightside beer that we had was excellent. This place isn't to be missed if you're passing through town!

A traditional boozer with bags of charm. Beyond the tiled exterior lies a great selection of cask ales and a great juke box to boot. A real city drinking pub that is much appreciated by the locals and visitors alike. Also notable for stocking Titanic Plum Porter as a fixture on the taps. A treat to visit all the more in Covid times. I couldn’t fault the beer, and the crowd it attracts is absolutely brilliant.

Mid week visit and it felt warm & comfortable. There was some quietish folk music in one of the rooms but the main room next to the bar was nicely full. Some interesting pics on the walls of famous visitors.

If you are looking for a historic old pub with real character then this is the place for you. It has all the charm of never being changed for years, particularly in that the surrounding environment has changed but time seems to have stood still here making it just that little bit more special. The beer is pretty good as well!.

10 years 2 months since my first visit . . . This time came with my boy ahead of cricket at Old Trafford. Nothing seems to have changed, which in the 21c is quite reassuring

Although last time Birmingham City had made the play offs!
