- Sonia S2 contributionsGreat experience - so much fun!My friends and I did the Unsolved escape room. We had the best time and managed to solve it! Don't want to give anything away but special shout out to Priscilla our game operator, she managed well, giving us clues to ensure we didn't lose hope but also giving us a chance to figure things out. Really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back.Hey there! We are thrilled you had such a great time & a massive well done for escaping, its a tricky room! We will pass on your kind words to Priscilla! If you were keen to try another I would recommend Enchanted, Vault or Zombie Lab for a bit more of a challenge! Thanks again for visiting & we hope to see you again in the future. - Pinkfizz22England, United Kingdom32 contributionsExceeded Expectations - a family must! What a fantastic experience for our first ‘breakout’ . We chose a ‘2’ rated room for two adults and two young teens and ‘Cursed Carnival’ did not disappoint. Breakout Manchester exceeded our expectations - fab venue, fab rooms with great clues which needed solving to unlock the next room … so clever. Our host (we think he was called Bobby) was amazing - he fired helpful clues onto the in room screen when he could see we’d ‘miscounted’ and was such a positive energy. Would HIGHLY recommend and will be back to Church Street or the other venue to try another room.Hey there! Thank you so much for coming along and your wonderful review! Carnival is such a fun room, so maybe now you can amp up the difficulty! I'd recommend Immortal if you're up for the challenge. Thank you for your kind words about Bobby too! We will be sure to let him know. Our game operator, Bobby was very welcoming and supportive throughout the experience. He gave good clues during the game and gave good recommendations of other escape rooms to do. Myself and my friends would like to thank Bobby for the help and the fun experience!Hey there! We're glad you enjoyed your time with us! Captured is a great horror themed room to play. The theming and the mix of puzzles were fantastic, a really good room for us to split up in. What made the experience so much more was our host, Gayatri, who was absolutely brilliant. Full of fun and brilliant to with!Hi there, We're so glad you enjoyed Captured, it's a great room! We'll pass on your message to Gayatri. From beginning to end, the experience was really positive - responsive service on email and phone, friendly and informative pre and de briefs, and they also were very accommodating to one of my team that is in a wheelchair (making suggestions so that she would be able to participate fully). Most of us hadn’t done an escape room before. Everyone really enjoyed the experience and it bonded us even further as a team. We visited the magical emporium room (the name was something like that anyway!). Easy to book online, the staff member who went through the rules and tips was so enthusiastic and engaging she is definitely good at her job. The room was full of things to do, in comparison to other rooms we have visited this was so much more interactive. A very good time well spent.

We booked last minute on a whim, and so glad we did! It was just the two of us, so at first the price felt quite high, but when we got in there and saw the room we could see it was worth it. A lot of effort had gone into all the design, props and puzzles!
It was a great room (we did Identify, but no spoilers!) and even though it was only 3 star difficulty, there were some clever puzzles. Our host Emma was brilliant at explaining what we needed to do, all the health and safety, and of course the story behind the room. We needed two clues on the way (which was apparently pretty good), and were so excited when we solved it.
The atmosphere created during the hour was intense and so creepy at times, and that made the hour fly by as we dashed around trying to find the answers. Honestly it was heart-pounding fun!
If you're in the area, please do give it ago - but book ahead! We were lucky to get a slot but it was busy in there and over the next few days on the calendar.
Anyway, highly recommended and thanks again to fantastic Emma!

I came with my friend and younger brother to do the "Captured A" and "Forsaken" games over the weekend. We did our very first game about a week before that and afterwards thought we HAVE to play more. Really had the best time! It's really worth the price, the 4 star and 5 star games are challenging, and you definitely find out how you work in a team, how you can improve next time, and what your contributions are. We didn't make it out of our very first one which was the Serial Killer Hospital one, but managed to complete the other two mentioned above (JUST haha) as we blocked ourselves in with a rug we threw into the corner against the door, so were very happy. You're only given clues when absolutely necessary, so that it's fair, you get your money's worth 100% and a fair shot to complete it yourself plus stays a challenge. Can't compliment the staff enough; my little brother has mild autism and anxiety and OCD but Simpson & Jess M were SO professional and treated him like anyone else and SO lovely, can't thank you enough really. Will definitely come back!! A++++

Hi Irina,
We're so glad to hear you had such an amazing time! We will be sure to pass your praise on to Simpson and Jess M, they will be thrilled to hear you had so much fun.
Congratulations on escaping Forsaken, which is our hardest room, hopefully we'll see you back soon to take on some more challenges and would suggest Vacancy A or B as the next game you try seeing as you seem to enjoy our horror themed rooms.
We look forward to your next escape! Kind regards,

We did this as part of a hen doo. It was so much fun. We had chosen a harder one but still did good. We had Harry and Han to help us as there was 2 groups of hens. My half did the agent blue which was great when we got the swing of things as we had never done one before. Harry gave us hints and things which made it more enjoyable instead of us twiddling our thumbs. Me and the girls want to thank Harry and Han for giving us a great time! And we were touched by the personalised email at the end with our fab pictures! Great hen starter! Yes there where hang overs by the end of the day! Thanks for such a brilliant experience. We hope to be back soon when Sarah has a ring on it! Thanks a million!!!! Heather (Maid or Honour) Xxx

Loved it. We did Cursed Carnival. Great for newbies like us. Jay was our games master (if that’s the term) and he was great. He gave us a few cryptic clues here and there just to nudge us along, and one hilariously less cryptic one when we were just being plain stupid!! We were a family group - mum, dad and kids aged 14 and 12. Everyone contributed and we had a goooood time. Recommended!

My 8th escape room. The second one in Manchester. And one of the best so far. 2 adults and three 12 year olds. We carelessly get locked in a sorcerers shop (oops) and need to mix a potion to get out. So I get my pointy hat and cloak on much to my daughters dismay and we search for codes. The difficulty level matches as its advertised. Great for novices and kids. Lots of effort gone into the design and layout with clever uses of props. Successfully escaped with 9 minutes to spare. I'd possibly stick with maximum of 3 people as at times there wasn't enough for 5 to do. But that did not detract from the enjoyment. An excellent room and next time we will book harder and darker

We attempted the 'Identify' escape, which involves you looking for clues in a murder. Our host was great, setting the scene and taking us through the rules (as well as explaining their Covid safety, which was all fab). The great thing about this room was that the host gave us more or less clues depending on how we were doing. When our time was running low we had a few more hints and we just managed to get out with about 3 minutes to go. Would definitely visit Breakout again to experience one of their other escape rooms!

Had so much fun with my boyfriend at an escape room here. We did the one called Immortal. We was hosted by a lovely lady called Xyla, who explained everything before the clock started and we had a nice chat afterwards too where she talked about the room in more detail and it was lovely to see how passionate she was about the room too :) she has the best job ever!! She also took a picture of us with our phone afterwards against the special I escaped wall which was a cute touch!
We was given the choice of whether we wanted clues or not throughout the game, we opted for clues if we looked as if we were getting stuck, so it was nice to know we was being supervised throughout, and what I really liked was that the clues were riddles in themselves done in a rhyme format... so you still had to figure it out, it wasn't like we was just being given the answer and ruining the fun of it, infact the clues were really fun!!
We escaped our room which I beleive was a three star rating with just two of us, it was nicely challenging but not frustratingly so. We only had two minutes to spare! So we only just escaped with our lives! :)
If you're worried about actually being locked in to somewhere, don't worry, health and safety means you can't... there are various emergency buttons you can press to get out should you need the bathroom or had a panic attack or for whatever reason you want to leave.
Price wise I was pleasantly surprised too, it was £50 for 60 minutes gameplay (not including the safety and introduction chat beforehand which was free), so between two of us that's only £25 per head and the more people you have the more the cost is spread between you all.
The room itself was very atmospheric and fitted the theme lovely. I was impressed with the details and quality.
The lady who greeted us in the reception was lovely too.
All in all an excellent experience that I am keen to do again since there are many different rooms to choose from! I want to keep going back until I have done them all.

Went here for something to do a bit different. Not sure what to expect as never been to any before. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and informative. The game itself is you have an hour to solve a lot of quizes and puzzles each time you complete one, you get another to do until you've either completed them all or run out of time. We ran out of time. You get clues on a screen to try and help you, and its very funny and challenging at the same time. Sometimes you just over think stuff and it takes you longer to solve than it should. But it was a great time doing something different with friends we all really enjoyed it. Very covid safe inside with usual masks, sanitizer and distancing in place which is a big credit to the staff and I felt very safe I thought it was really well organised. We will go back as we need to complete a room and have a more understanding of how the clues and puzzles work now. A very enjoyable thing to so with friends and well worth a visit

Hi. I was wondering if your rooms are to difficult for ten year olds for a birthday. And would it be to difficult to enjoy for kids?
Written August 16, 2021
I would recommend Emporium of Magic for a 10 year old! It's a brilliant magical room which I think a family would really enjoy. I'd say you would still need at least one adult with them but I think 10 year olds would definitely enjoy it.

Hi Ruth,
Thank you for your question. Our rooms are designed for a minimum of 2 players, with a maximum allowance of 5 people.
Sadly we cannot have an individual in the rooms, this is mainly because our rooms contain puzzles that require multiple participants to complete them.
I hope this helps.

Hi I’m wanting to book a room for me and my boyfriend for his birthday, we’re in our mid 20s so what room would you recommend?! I don’t want anything too hard OR too easy?! Thanks x
Written April 6, 2018
Hi, I would recommend a 2 or 3 star for beginners. Don't be put off by the lower rating, the puzzles are still challenging, just easier than our other rooms. We have various themes (horror, spy, detective etc). I would recommend checking out our website to see all of our rooms. I personally think The The Detective Office, Identify or Infiltrate would be the best options for beginner's. I would avoid 4 or 5 star rooms unless you have played escape rooms before, to give you an idea of what to expect.

Hi there! My boyfriend and I are visiting Manchester next week.
We both know English pretty good though not perfectly flulent.
We've done escape room before but not in English just yet. Will the room be suitable for us?
And also, how long before should we book a room?
Written March 25, 2018
The staff are very good an patient, so I am sure you will be fine. You will need to have an understanding of reading English as there are written clues.
I would book as soon as possible especially if you are looking to book a weekend visit.
I am sure you will enjoy it. Hope you both have a wonderful time in Manchester.

Sorry to only answer now, like others have said, depends on the childs age as some of the clues are quite tricky so I think a younger child would get frustrated, my stepdaughter is 11 and she loves it although some of the clues are still a bit hard for her. I probably wouldn't go younger than 10 as some rooms are a bit scary as well!
