A cracking museum which we stumbled across by accident. Really engaging and nice to have it staffed by retired police. My only criticism is that it feels very 'pro'-police which is not surprising but when events such as the miner's strike and the strangeways riot are documented there is no attempt at viewing history from 'the other side'. That said... More

Had some really good and informative exhibits. There was also several members of staff on hand to answer questions. Pity that it has such limited opening times as became very crowded. Well worth a visit.

Just visited this museum today, with my 12 year old grandson, run by retired policemen, who are very knowledgeable. Displays of uniforms, truncheons, handcuffs throughout the ages, also motorbikes. With it being in a old police station, the cells are still there, with the volunteers telling you about past convicts especially the young children who were arrested. The court room... More

My 2 children were quite young when we visited, but both thoroughly enjoyed this visit the highlight the day we visited was the dogs, but they also enjoyed the court and gaol.

Why the title? Trip Advisor has the wrong location for the museum; it's on Newton Street not Lever Street.
