Complete scam avoid like the plague!!
Jun 2016
I was bought this voucher through groupon in December. When I tried to get in touch to use it in March it took me a week to get through to them. When I finally did, the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. Despite me saying I am available during the week and/or weekends she said the earliest they could book me and my friend in was 18th June! The day before my appointment I tried more than 10x to phone to confirm, no one answered. The day of our appointments I again repeatedly phoned to confirm and sent two emails...no response. My friend and I went to the spa at 12.30 only to be told they had record of the booking!! We were offered use of the pool and told to contact the manager for compensation, rebooking or a refund. We were not alone in this treatment as another lady turned up at the same time, only to be told the same thing...no booking on the system. The next day I emailed the manager my complaint and received an email back that Claretys were no longer trading and to try to get a refund through groupon, failing that try to get a refund through my card provider if it was covered due to being an Internet purchase. The email suggests they have now stopped trading today however the therapist had already informed us that they had changed over to spa303 a while ago and the problem with our booking was not a one off...she admitted they had not capped to groupon offer and now didn't have a way to honour all the sold vouchers. The Hilton have said it is nothing to do with them and dismissed any reflection on their reputation. Total disgrace!

Closed Down - beware!

I was supposed to have a Spa day this week after waiting 3 months to get an appointment, but today received an email saying they had ceased trading and no refunds would be forthcoming. The receptionist at the Hilton claimed to have no knowledge as they don't own it. There is no information on Clarety's website and they are still advertising their "sister spa" at the Ainscow hotel, so I would be very wary of that one as well.

Unable to book
Jun 2016 • Friends
Bought a Wowcher offer for myself and two friends back in December, unable to get through on the telephone, sent numerous emails and finally got a response late January. They said that due to the large number of bookings they had taken they had no availability until June, we had no alternative but to accept that. The Wowcher expired in April, but they said they were happy to do our booking in June due to the difficulties of getting a date.
Last Friday I got an email from Claretys to say that due to staffing issues (?) they were unable to carry out the treatments and to ask Wowcher for a refund.

On contacting Wowcher, they say that the voucher has expired and as a gesture of goodwill will refund half the voucher cost as Wowcher Wallet credit. Am currently in an email trail with them as I feel that I have been penalised when the fault lies with Claretys. IF YOU CANNOT SUPPLY THE TREATMENTS DUE TO LACK OF STAFF.....STOP SELLING THE OFFERS ON THE VARIOUS WOWCHER, GROUPON SITES. You are just letting people down.

Am disgusted with Claretys and pity the Hilton chain for having them associated with such a name.

I recommend that you avoid this place.

NOTE: I have had to say that I visited in June 2016 as Tripadvisor will not let me post this review without saying when I attended. I have NOT attended this place, and looks like I won't be either.

Absolutely appalling- do not go
Jun 2016 • Friends
Bought a LivingSocial voucher in December 2015, first available appointment to use it on a Saturday was today, 11th June. Had this confirmed by email by the "manager." I tried to phone what must be 20 times and email every day for the past 9 days to try and confirm our appointment but every thing was ignored.
So imagine our disappointment to turn up today to be told there was no booking and absolutely no way we could be fit in. Gutting as family member had travelled nearly 3 hours to visit and receive her Christmas present!
Lady on reception was completely impersonal and useless and had clearly been dealing with the exact same situation time and time again. Now will struggle to get a refund as the voucher expired in March (spa said they would extend, but today told us they are not accepting vouchers and we would have to get a refund!!). Reflects extremely badly on The Hilton. Manager on the front desk at the Hilton was apologetic, and tried to make things better even though it's not actually part of their hotel, it just rents a space within the building. She was able to give us a complimentary bottle of prosecco to try and lighten the mood of disappointment.
Don't attempt to use any kind of voucher - you will be left out of pocket and highly disappointed.

Do not book! Waste of time and money
Jun 2016 • Friends
I'm appalled by the lack of customer service for the spa and by the Hilton itself. I bought a wowcher last year to book a spa day for my friend and I to enjoy 3 treatments each. Booking the spa day itself proved difficult: I had to chase up a date via email several times and each time I was told dates are fully booked until months later. The telephone number is useless because no one ever answers. Email correspondence is unhelpful and provides you with one worded answers with no intention to help you book a date or to help the customer in any shape or form. I finally settled on a date given to me at the beginning of May which was booked 5 months in advance. This was the earliest weekday they could do apparently. Less than two weeks to my spa day I get sent an email saying building work is scheduled and my spa day was cancelled. The email sounded unapologetic and they told me to email again to arrange another date. Are u kidding me? I cannot think of anything worse than having to email time and time again trying to find an available slot and wait another 5 months for an appointment! The spa should not have ever advertised this deal if they had no intention to honour it. I asked for a refund in the end of which the spa answered they could not issue a refund and asked me to contact wowcher direct. So basically they're not taking any ownership of the time and bad customer service I've experienced and trying to wipe their hands clean of anyone trying to claim for this deal! To date I'm still waiting for me refund because wowcher has emailed the spa and still waiting for them to respond. What an absolute joke!

Do not book - seemingly a scam.

It appears my original review has dissappeared, hmmmmm........ however I will attempt to leave it again.

Originally bought a groupon voucher last year, booked a spa treat for a couple of months in advance only to be emailed a couple of weeks prior to be told it would need to be cancelled due to staff shortages. We got our money back, and that was that.

This year, my mum bought us a similar voucher from wowcher. We again booked months in advance as that was the only free time. The booking in itself was difficult, no one ever answered the phone, and emails were not answered either. Eventually however we did manage to book.

Approx two weeks before we were due to visit, I received an email to inform me that our booking was to be cancelled due to staff shortages and losing a treatment room (?). I was told to ask for a refund from wowcher. The lack of customer service was astounding, I requested a call back and a re-arrangement of appointments, and received no answer. This appears to be a common trick of this underhand establishment, and as such I would never attempt to visit again, no matter how good the treatments are (and I still don't know, because I still haven't received one!).

Don't waste your time, there are plenty other lovely spa hotels and day spas in manchester to try, go there instead!

I read these reviews the night before we came, and thought to take them all with a pinch of salt.. How wrong was I?!
We booked to have 5 spa treatments back in January, today (May) we turned up for our appointment...
We received a text asking us to come in at 9.15, our appointments were at 10. No problems, turned up to be told the spa doesn't actually open until 10, the receptionist wasn't sure why we were so early but dismissed us and said we can pay £10 each to use the pool etc (we already knew of the charge)
We were told that someone would get us from the pool area when our appointments ready. 9.55am, no one came. We went to reception to be told that we weren't on the appointment list and 2 customers had just gone it. Furious at this point, we asked to speak to whoever was in charge - there was no manager or supervisor (strange) and was left talking to the receptionist.
She was not at all shocked by the situation, she questioned why we didn't contact the hotel when we received our text to come an hour early, as if it was our fault that you shouldn't believe your confirmation texts? To then shrug her shoulders and say 'what do you want me to do about it, I only work here' she did not offer us advice, she would not give us a full refund and said it was not the spas fault. We were dismissed, we spent over £150 for this day, we had been waiting for months and she had no care for us.
She said we could come back another time! Ha, it took us about a month to contact them because no one likes answering the phone & im sure they would dismiss our booking again anyway.
A bit of empathy and an apology, or an explanation would have calmed the situation. None of that was given. By the sounds of the other reviews, it seems to be a reoccurring incident that I think she may have dealt with 10's of times before.
Beautiful hotel, nice facilities- bit small but we weren't there for the facilities, just a shame the spa is giving the rest of the hotel a bad name.

Really... just don't bother.

My sister bought my mum and I a Wowcher at Christmas to have a 'spa day' with three treatments, I bought her the same voucher so we could book and attend together.

We were able to book in three days before the Wowcher expired, shockingly... to then be told a few days before we attended that it had to be cancelled due to staffing levels.

We had rebooked a few weeks later to be told AGAIN that we couldn't attend again due to staffing levels and loosing a treatment room (whatever that means, I'm not sure how they have lost a room) and should request a refund.

When you ring up nobody answers and when you email nobody replies... I'm not 100% sure the business is still there and the Hilton don't want a shred of affiliation with the spa so I've had no luck speaking to anybody.

I've stayed in the hotel previously and the spa amenities look nice on pictures however are more than tired in real life... so the fact that you have to pay extra to use them if you even manage to have your spa treatments is in itself a joke. Save your money and don't book anything with this place!!!

Do not book this spa... It is awful.
May 2016 • Friends
Went for a much anticipated spa day today booked many months in advance to find the entire place closed. Took the day off work, felt so frustrated and disappointed. Managed to speak to spa manager Philip on the phone who was really patronising and rude. Other people turned up for their spa day from Hull to find the place closed. I would not go back ever. Do not go to this spa. It is awful and the manager Philip is incompetent. Please read other reviews... I wish I had!

spa treat
May 2016 • Solo
I was bought a spa treat via groupon as a gift in October. I was unable to secure a slot till Jan and then the dates were mixed up. Anyway I went yesterday and just had the three treatments as I didn't have time for the rest. I had full back and neck massage, a facial and a head massage. All very relaxing and the therapist who was called Kit was very knowledgeable and gave great advice. A nice relaxing way to spend a couple of hours.
