visited castlefield bowl for the James Bay gig. spacious area with various areas to stand to get a good view, steps and grass area if you want the luxury of sitting down. parking was a bit limited so get there early to get a space near by. cheap food and drinks once inside. pubs and restaurants near by to pass... Went to see New Order on Saturday who were absolutely brilliant. HOWEVER - they cram too many people in, you can't get to a toilet if you're on the MSI side (literally unless you barge through the crowd cos the toilets were only at the other side!) and the gate staff won't let you out to nip next door to... Went here with my family for a short walk and we all enjoyed it very much. It's extremely picturesque and very beautiful.

Although the weather was bad Stereophonics were brilliant. The venue wasn't the best. The sheltered area was full and people were standing on the grass verge which was like a mud bath. The drinks were ridiculously expensive. Lots of people were stumbling about and banging into people. The cobbles were really slippery and there were rivers of water but that's... More

BAD venue choice..cobbled/uneven floor..very restricted..and the promoters/venue ,management are clearly obsessed with raking in money from booze sales..I am all for people enjoying a night out, but truthfully I have never ever been to a gig/event anywhere where so many people of ALL ages were drunk/drugged up!There were people who seemed unable to walk safely still being served at the... Local government should do more to makes it as a tourists attraction place. As it is almost over 2000 year old garden. I like that place as a history lover and if anyone loves... More

Quite nice for a stroll and a nice lunch in the Wharf, but not much else here. Area is so what spoilt by the homeless people's campsite and the surrounding litter

Had the chance to visit this area in manchester to understand a bit about the citys industrial heritage, the canals are beautiful and for me this is where Manchester meets Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Tampere (Finland). During the day this part is serene and beautiful , transforming itself to a great nightlife center in the eve.

Part of the old Canal-System gives you a blink at Manchesters Industrial History. You can walk or jog along the Canals, water-quality seems to be very poor. A lot of litter is swimming in the Canals, but it is a special - even romantic - view on the City. Where are a lot of restaurants. We had twice a drink... More

I love this quiet area (during the day), slowly wandering past the canal boats, plenty of places to get a meal or a drink if you want, or just sit and soak up the sun (sometimes!). MOSI is just over the road as well!
