I never knew this place existed before an acquaintance recommended the 'Human Machines' exhibit in their gallery, which was brilliant. Not only that but a pleasant little cafe where I enjoyed a lovely cake and reviving cuppa, before leaving.

The Point is a welcoming arts centre 5 minutes walk from the Doncaster train station. The programme of events & exhibitions changes regularly but the cafe serving tasty lunches remains a constant.
When I last visited The Point with my 3 year old in the summer the gallery was full of interactive exhibitions. There were things to draw, build, pretend, read, wear & play- all for free! We paid a couple of quid to join in a workshop with a professional artist where the children built their ideal city! We're definitely planning to visit again.

A gorgeous Georgian building transformed into a fantastic venue full of creativity! There are all kinds of art & music workshops that take place daily, there is a gallery, which currently has a really interesting exhibition of art and photography based on 'favourite things, including the sketches, collages and photography of quite a few famous people....Eric Clapton, Brian Eno...and so on. There's even a table, filled with crayons, pencils and paper, to encourage children to contribute to this artistic theme.
Downstairs is a lovely café, serving tasty homemade quiches, salads, jacket potatoes, paninnis, homemade soups and cakes. Fab choice of teas and coffees too.
Eat in, at a table or on a sofa or, eat outside in the courtyard, with its lovely flower sculptures.
Child friendly and some nights have late opening.
Well worth a visit....once you've been, you'll definitely go again!

'The Point' is a great Arts venue situated at the top of South Parade in a lovely Georgian building. The Point is open to the public and is a great place to relax and unwind. There is always an interesting exhibition in the gallery to see and the cafe is good for meeting friends for coffee or lunch. The Point provides arts and music activities for all age groups and has excellent facilities and very friendly staff. It is well worth a visit.

The Point is a lovely place to visit with or without the rest of the family. It has a great cafe serving various drinks & snacks/light meals as well as homemade cake & a pretty courtyard to sit in when the sun shines. The gallery holds a number of different exhibitions throughout the year, all worth a look and there is even a cosy nook where you can sit & read in comfort with a cuppa.
The Point is also an ideal meeting place with a number of rooms available for hire and there is a packed timetable of workshops and activities for all ages (many of which are free!), so don't forget to pick up a leaflet or check out their website to see what's on!

Hi - thanks for your lovely review and I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to The Point. Our next exhibition is called Famous Faces and features portraits made by adults with severe autism using random objects and materials. They're fabulously kitsch and beautiful. Hope you can make it over to visit (exhibition on 10 November - 20 December) and enjoy coffee and cake with Elvis, The Queen, Ghandi or Einstein!

I visited The Point today with my (almost) 2 year old to take part in ‘tuneful chatter’.
What an incredible time we had. Tuneful Chatter was a safe space for my daughter to freely express herself with no judgement. There was no pressure for her to sit and behave (unlike other groups in Doncaster we have attended).
My daughter is at a joyful age where she wants to run and explore freely and this group allowed that wholeheartedly.
The women who were running the group were so kind and welcoming. They encouraged my daughter to dance, play, socialise and express herself.
We will most certainly be back!
Thank you to the team @ The Point.

Oh and just to add, we had a delicious croissant and coffee in the cafe beforehand. The lady serving us was super helpful and polite.
