    Great stop-off
Once we discovered this place we always stop off here when travelling up North to break up our journeys. So much nicer and much more picturesque than a motorway stop, with fantastic grounds to walk the dogs and stretch your legs, use the facilities and grab some good coffee and snacks. Very busy on a weekend with locals, much quieter during the week. Pay parking.

    A delightful place
What a lovely place. The museum was so interesting with lots of items bringing back childhood memories. The Butlers cafe served us delicious ploughman's and toasted sandwiches and the walk in the extensive wooded grounds complete with swans on the lake was delightful. And all for free. Well done Cusworth Hall staff and Doncaster Council.

    the Cusworth Hall review
A great place to visit. Plenty to see in the house, a great little cafe and beautiful walks around the grounds. I been to Cusworth Hall back in May 2021 where I went to this place with Papa and my brother Brad and the Cusworth Hall is an excellent experience and I saw my old nursery teacher from my old primary school and I really enjoyed my visit 10/10 for the incredible place in Cusworth in Doncaster

Only visited because we spotted the brown visitor signs after going to Brodsworth. What a find! This Grade I listed Palladium Hall was bought be Doncaster Rural District council in 1965, when the contents were sold off by the last owner. It has been turned into a Social History Museum with information as you move from room to room about what function it used to hold but with masses of display material in cases and great interpretation boards. We only managed the ground floor and some of the upstairs as we arrived late afternoon and they close at 4pm in winter. Free to enter, it didn't matter we were right at the end of the day.
So much evidence of community involvement, with local stories about mining, clothes, and local people had obviously loaned some of their things to help with the displays. Doncaster council are to be commended in keeping this place going. They received a large Heritage Lottery grant in 2007 which transformed the place and Di some of the much needed structural work. A fabulous place to come on a wet and windy afternoon.
The park is a green flag park with lakes, a fabulous children's play area and a big car park - normally pay and display.
Not only do they have a small cafe but there is also a micro brewery in the old courtyard. This was a very pleasant surprise and a great way to use some of the outbuildings for their original historic purpose.

Free to enter: you pay for parking and can donate voluntarily. Visited with my 5 year old granddaughter, she really loved walking round the rooms particularly the old kitchens. the gardens are lovely and there is also a large lake with lots of ducks. There is also a large play area for the kids and an ice cream van. There is a small cafe but we didn’t go in so can’t say how expensive that was.

Cusworth Hall and its parkland are wonderful treasures of Doncaster and South Yorkshire. The Parkland is rich, rolling with lakes and with some of the best thought-out placing of benches I have seen anywhere. They are so good, you almost want to stop at each one and enjoy the view. The lakes are glorious, and everywhere so well tended. The Hall itself housing museum items is a glory. It is a well proportioned house where you can see it without the clutter of furniture to enjoy its clean lines. The museum exhibits are superbly chosen and the ready book of large labels you can view at leisure, a number of them made me laugh at their fun. There is a huge poster of two railway engines by Terence Cuneo which a a delight. The guides are full of knowledge to help make things real, and they can point to things that you might miss. The Bultlers cafe on site is very good and well priced, with novel food offerings. The Brewhouse window servery is great, including their own brewed beers. A well worth visit for those of all ages.

Visited last night for a lovely walk with the pooch around the gardens and lake finished off with a cheeky drink in the outdoor cafe bar. It’s currently being renovated so there are tables under a marquee at the side of the hall! The pineapple rum was a good choice! They serve cakes, bar snacks and pizzas here too - all reasonably priced. A great kids play area and lots of parking is available (it is pay and display). It’s well worth a visit, the views from the top of the hill overlooking the lake are lovely and vice-versa from the lake looking towards the hall especially as the sun is setting!

Cusworth Hall proves you don’t need to spend a fortune on a pleasant afternoon out. Visited for the first time yesterday and paid £1.60 for a couple of hours parking after which there is no need to spend a penny unless you want an ice cream or a bite to eat. Lovely walk around the well kept grounds and beautiful lake complete with water lilies and swans. It is a great place for a dog walk and we came across many people out with their four legged friends! There is a small museum and children’s playground too but the museum seemed to be closed when we visited.
There are better stately homes and more exciting places but for simple pleasures then this place ticks the boxes.

What a fabulous day out. Great grounds to walk round and the views of Doncaster. Very knowledgeable staff and the museum is great display and you must watch the two videos one on the history of the house and the mines in the area. Lovely food and they have gluten free options . Thank you

Visited today. 3 adults and a 2 year old child. A lovely morning. The 2 year old loved the park area and we enjoyed historical visit to the actual Hall itself followed by coffee and cake in the tea rooms and a walk around the lake. A lovely trip out

We fancied a ride out and saw that this place was open. Although we have been in the parkland often, we have never been in the hall. It is an interesting museum, with lots to see and I was particularly taken with the idea of a car window hanging picnic tray. Some enterprising person should manufacture these! Don't expect to see furnished rooms, but they are all filled with interesting memorabilia. We then moved on to the cafe for lunch, but it was too wet afterwards for a walk. A great place to visit

Cusworth Hall is owned by the local authority and the hall itself is open on selected days to have a look round but don't let that put you off.

The grounds are well worth exploring with some glorious scenery.

There is a pay and display car park near the hall and there is a cafe to the side of the hall where you can get drinks, snacks and meals.

There are a few paths down the hill and some are a little steep, could be a challenge if you are pushing someone in a wheelchair. These take you down to the lakes and here you can admire the scenery and wildlife. While we were there we saw a wide variety of birds including cormorants, coots, geese, ducks and a heron.

Really nice place to visit to improve your wellbeing.
