Priory Park in Dudley takes its name from the Old Priory of St James's. The ruins are from the Cluniac Priory and are the picturesque feature in the grounds of the park. The Priory was first founded by the Lord of Dudley, Gervase Paganell, in the 12th Century, and was closed by the infamous Henry VIII in the 1530's. The pools near The Priory were drained when Priory Hall was built in 1825. During the 1930's, The Priory were restored to their current form, and the grounds became a park.

Lovely walk around the grounds with my children catching Pokemon. Very busy here as lots of Pokemon and pokestop keeping everyone quietly busy on their phones. The gardens are well maintained and great for groups to meet up and play the various sports. Handy toilets in site.

We decided to have a stroll through the park and what a pleasant park it is. There was a wedding party there taking pictures in this scenic park. Will definately visit again.

Super place for wedding beautiful buildings and grounds. After a smooth and well conducted wedding ceremony the garden backdrop made for great photos. A happy day.

Hadnt visited for some years, what a surprise the park has had lottery funding recently and it shows. Previously the sunken pool was dirty and unkempt ,not any more clean and beautiful with the lillies and pond fauna, the was a small amount of litter in the pool a football bottle and some assorted litter but not too much. The herb... More

A lovely backdrop to our wedding photographs. The ruins are picturesque and the bluebells were in full bloom.

A truly beautifully landscaped, varied and well maintained park that is enjoyed by a huge variety of folks. Massively overhauled in the last five years Priory Park is now a truly lovely place to spend time in. The Priory ruins are the centerpiece, and are interesting and lovely, but my favourite place is now the avenue of trees walking away... More

It is only a small park but it is interesting to walk around and know the history of the ruins. It is close to the registry office so it is good to come here for pictures. we bought our family who were visiting from USA. to see some local history.
