This is a beautiful church next to the castle. It has some most attractive features including striking stained glass windows and exquisitely carved misericords. There is a peaceful and serene atmosphere as you walk around the different chapels and admire the High Altar. Entrance is...More

Standing on a hilltop, the imposing Grade1 listed church tower and buildings overlook the historic town and its surrounding countryside. A number of artefacts would suggest the existence of a Saxon church from the Sixth century. However, much of the elegant sandstone construction was completed...More

Nipped in whilst waiting for a tour of the castle. Beautiful stain glass windows and the organist was practicing, which gave it a magical feel.

Arrived to visit yesterday at 12.40pm to find the place closed for lunch. Yes I know people have to have their breaks but surely a place of worship shouldn't be closed like this. Lovely building from the outside though.

At first I wasn't sure if this was a part of the Castle but after doing research i saw it's separate. The castle you need to book a tour for but this you don't. Interesting and beautiful.

Definitely worth a visit to Lancaster Priory Church, yes it’s just a church, however it’s steeped in history and there was a lovely man practicing his singing with a pianist and he sounded very good. It’s nice just to visit and walk round and see...More

This priory church stands at the back of Lancaster castle. Unlike the castle you can go in at any time and not have to wait for a guided tour. There is a fantastic view from the graveyard over the river estuary
