After a visit to the castle, we went to have a look at the Priory, lovely building, with great architecture, and steeped in history. Recommended.

I was following the very good and informative self tour from the Tourist Centre when I decided to take a few moments to step inside the Church itself. They were expecting a wedding and so some of the pews had been decorated. That wasn't it though - it's such a beautiful and peaceful space that you immediately feel calm and connected with Lancaster's history. Well worth taking the time out of the tour.

There is always something happening here throughout the year. Music, cafe, festivals and architecture. A fascinating history to this building if you can get the mini tour with the in house historian.

We visited the Priory church which is just behind Lancaster Castle. This is a beautiful church which is steeped in history. Medieval architecture, beautiful stained glass windows and wooden pews. Plenty to see and admire or sit and reflect in silence. A peaceful retreat.

Situated in the County town of Lancashire, adjacent to Lancaster Castle, this beautiful church has a fine set of organ pipes.
