A really lovely local museum that has a nice selection of Gillow furniture. The highlight was the Museum of Childhood. Some lovely pieces to show the kids how they used to play in the old days. Including the 1980s.

Thanks for your great review. Hope to welcome you again soon. The 1980s were the best!

This building has just reopened and was something we accidentally found. Lovely rooms with staff on hand to answer any questions. Well worth a visit.

So glad this house is once again open to the public. It is an important piece of Lancaster's history being where the Judges lodged on their visits to the town to conduct the periodic Assizes each year. The rooms have been well set up to...More

I visited with my sister who lives in Lancaster and I understand that it has only recently reopened to the public. It is a very attractive building with well proportioned rooms and it is two museums in one. The first floor houses an outstanding collection...More

We had added this building as a place to visit, but found it was not open to the public. Another historical build we are denied the right to visit. If there are problems with cuts surely a admission fee would help to keep it open....More

This elegant building is next to The Castle. Unfortunately, I was told it has been a victim of local authority belt-tightening and not been open for two years. There is the possibility that it may be opened next year.

Could only view from the outside, which was a shame - just had to use our imaginination to envisage the inside !

Closed to individual visitors. No prior closure notice given. I went here but was thwarted. Another example of a failing Lancaster Council. Why advertise this place if it is not open to individual visitors?
