About
Disc Golf involves throwing specially designed flying discs (like Frisbees)into a metal basket. The long course has 18 holes of approx 90 metres. The short course has 15 holes of approx 45 metres. Trees and bushes have been strategically planted to add to the challenge. Beginners are welcome, you can have a great time even if your your score is not so great! If we don't have customers waiting then we will be happy to get out of the shop and give you some pointers on technique. Ground conditions vary across the course and according to season and weather. Trainers are generally fine for the short course in summer; walking boots or wellies are generally a good idea if playing the long course in winter. At present facilities are very basic - a field shelter, porta-loos, and a pro-shop in a shipping container. Bookings can be made 7 days in advance at quarrypark.app

This was a really nice place to visit. Given the latest Covid19 pandemic, we chose a disk and kept it for the duration of the game. This was then placed into a bucket to be sanitised before being re-used by someone else. We arrived, collected a disk and a map, and then we were off. Walked around the course on our own and played disk golf. Simple. There is also a free carpark on site which was great. Can't wait to visit again.

Quarry Park is rated as the 78th best course globally in 2022. It is a well maintained and custom designed course that has been carefully curated to allow for all skill levels. There are five levels of difficulty, with a short course, or four levels of difficulty on the long course. As it is a top quality course it is occasionally closed for tournaments to be played.

In winter there are usually some form of evening glow rounds once a week - check the quarry park Facebook site for event listings, or if you want someone to play with, or if you have any questions. Disc golfers are a very friendly bunch!

Really good fun. Dont usually leave activity type reviews but if you have 2 hours spare and want to have some good fun, for me, this is it.
Never done it before, walked to the course, expected very little.
We were met by the guy in the shop, who happens to be the owner, who gave is a quick lesson and away we went. By the way the owner is a super player and a nice fella.
Great fun and cheap to play. Course is fun for starters but you get to appreciate how difficult the main course is for the accomplished player.
If you have a couple of bored kids and some time on your hands, take them here, I'd be surprised if you didn't go again and again.
As you can see from the review we had a great morning there.

Tried out the short course in a small group and loved it! Really good value, and the staff member on duty (didn't catch his name unfortunately) gave a great little introduction and how-to for us. Will definitely be coming back!

This is probably my 5th or 6th visit here, and this time we brought our neighbours pre-teen boys.
It was a lovely day, not too hot and not too cool, but sun cream is always a must if there's even the slightest hint of the sun!
The course was a little busy, so we started around basket 5, and went from there.
The grass is cut regulalry, but you do need ot keep an eye on where your discs go, especially if using a club disc as loss of these will mean you lose your deposit.
If in doubt skip the water hazards and and marshy baskets - the river winds through part of the course and a couple of baskets do require throwing across streams, or close to the river.
There are generally 2 or 3 starting places for each basket - competition, experienced, and beginner (I always go beginner, although my husband and the youngest boy with us were both good enough to go experienced!).
Trousers and long sleeves are useful if you think you might throw into the middle of a nettle patch, as although there is regular, and ongoing maintenance the little sods do spring up quite quickly in the summer.
If you have one of those litter pickers/grabbers maybe consider taking it if you prefer to go t-shirts and shorts (only if you don't mind carrying it about though).

The boys both loved it, and called their parents for permission to buy their own discs (granted, and they're out all the time playing in the garden now)

Tips:

Cost - Short course (16 holes), Adults £5, Children £3; Full Course (18 holes), Adults £6 Children £4
plus a refundable deposit for disc hire I think (unless you lose the disc)

Parking - off road, gravel and grass carparks (opened as needed)

Shop - disc hire, course fees, small selection of drinks, crisps & chocolate, large range of discs, disc bags, etc, portable baskets, t-shirts & hats, etc

club house - benches, chairs, magazines, people have tended to leave suncream, insect repellant, etc for communial use too

toilets - portaloo, cleaned and checked regularly, but it is a portaloo afterall!

other:
sun cream and hats in the summer, insect repellant when they're biting

long sleeves and trousers protect you from nettles, etc

remember, if it's busy there's no reason why you can't start at a basket other than number 1, and work your way round to 18 before going back to the ones you've missed

avoid the river baskets if you're not confident of avoiding it, unless you don't mind losing a disc

relax, and enjoy
take a picnic blanket and picnic, and enjoy the day

My husband is a member here, and decided to take me and another friend along for a round, and oh.my.god! this is so much fun!
Imagine a normal golf course, but without the bunkers and with chain baskets instead holes, and special discs instead of balls and clubs - and there you have it
You can hire the discs, or bring your own (I wouldn't recommend trying to play with a 'standard' frisby), and there are short and long routes to play.
There's a all year open club house with a small selection of info, sun creams, insect repellant, scor cards, etc, and a manned shop that's only open at certain times where you can buy drinks, snacks etc and hire your discs, etc.
The course is well maintained, but there are some nettles and thistles so long trousers are recommended, as are good sturdy shoes.
The river Avon threads along the side of the park, and this does create a bit of a water hazard - but is easily missed out if you don't want to risk it.
The club do check the river at odd intervals through the year, so any lost discs will possibly be recovered and are stored in the shop until claimed - making it important to write your name on your own. There is a fee for lost club discs though, so make sure you're confident you'll make the bank if you do play the river baskets.
On a nice day take a picnic, there are tables and benches and plenty of nice places to have a sit and a snack on the course, but remember to take a hat and sun cream (there was a bit available when we were there, but it's more a courtesy left by another member than a service they provide).
Also, make sure you check the notice board, and if it says to avoid any holes - then avoid them!
Finally - relax and enjoy yourself.
This is a fantastic way to spend a day, and is great for pretty much all ages and abilities.
It's probably a bit more challenging for people with mobility issues, due to the terrain, but some holes would be accessible so long as you can get about on grass

We arrived at quarry park disc golf knowing nothing about what you had to do and we were extremely impressed.

After we paid we were each given a frisbee which is £5 if you lose it up a tree or in a river.

We were all shown how to throw it with a proper technique and how to play being given a map and scorecard.

We enjoyed our time around the course, it was 16 holes which took an hour and the course was good but challenging.

It was such fun we paid to go around again to beat our previous scores

We thoroughly enjoyed our day and will be back very soon

Thank you Quarry Park Disc Golf!!

If you haven't tried Disc Golf yet you're in for a treat. One of the only courses in the UK purpose built. A great day out for the whole family - disc golf is accessible and fun.

We drive down from Manchester to play this course - it's that good. If you're around on a weekend contact Del in advance - he's one of the finest ambassadors for the sport.

Just had a lovely few hours here. Great price, helpful staff and beautifully kept grounds. We brought our own picnic and was lovely to sit down afterwards on the benches provided- particularly liked the recycling of rubbish offered on site. Will definitely be returning and hopefully get better given time :)
